Suicide bomber kills 12 in attack on pilgrims in Baghdad

A female suicide bomber killed at least19 people and wounded 75 on Thursday when she detonated anexplosive vest in a crowd of pilgrims being escorted by policeto a shrine south of Baghdad, police said.

A female suicide bomber blew up an explosive vest amid a group of Shi'ite pilgrims near the town of Iskandariya south of Baghdad on Thursday, killing 12 people and wounding 27, police said. Thousands of pilgrims have begun travelling toward the holy city of Kerbala south of Baghdad to commemorate the birth of the 12th Imam, a Messiah-like figure revered by Shi'ite Muslims.
