Suicide killed 43 and injured 100 in Mohmand Agency
A suicide bomber targeting political administration office killed at least 16 people on Monday at Ghallanai, headquarters of the agency, official sources said, part of a renewed push against the state after one of the biggest security crackdowns in Mohmand Agency after July 8 deadliest attack at Ekka Ghund.
Official and local sources said that two consecutive suicide attacks rocked agency headquarters, Ghallanai at about 2:00 PM when political administration offices were busy in routine business. At least 16 people were killed and 35 injured at the time of compilation of this report.
Sources said that a suicide bomber allegedly blew himself up in the jirga lawn near the assistant political agent upper Haleemzai, Roushan Khan while the other suicide went off when the Khasadar tried to stop him from moving towards the offices. According to political agent, Amjad Ali Khan, 16 dead bodies had been retrieved from the debris while rescue operation was in progress for recovering the bodies and injured. It was the second deadliest attack in Mohmand Agency after the Ekka Ghund bomb blast on july 8, 2010 that claimed more 150 people.
