Phone Hacking Scandal Keeps Growing: Another News International Paper Involved
A journalist for The Sun, another News International publication, has been arrested in the still-growing phone hacking scandal. The man arrested was identified by Sky News as Jamie Pyatt, district editor of The Sun.
This is the sixth arrest in Operation Elveden, which is investigation the alleged illegal payouts to law enforcement officers in the phone hacking scandal. Operation Weeting investigates the phone hacking itself, while Operation Tuleta explores computer crime associated with the scandal.
The illegal wiretapping has reached up to 5,800 victims so far.
A neighbour of Mr Pyatt said he was taken away by plain clothed police officers this morning.
The man, who didn't want to be named, said at least two unmarked police cars turned up at about 10.30am and led Mr Pyatt into one of the cars.
