Amanda Knox - Bathroom Fallacy - (abridged) What Amanda Saw

From Perugia Italy,  supporters of Amanda Knox (see Now Public Story)  describe the defense team's closing remarks,  comparing the synopsis of forensic evidence and character analysis of Ms. Knox with that of the prosecutor Magnini  -  Facebook page is sourced below.

One of the closing statements of Magnini before the prosecution rested, was that it would be insane for a person to shower,  as Knox did,  in a blood spattered bathroom.  His implication:  Ms. Knox was able to do so,  because she was not shocked by the blood,  being full aware of the murder.  This YouTube tells quite a different story;  hopefully,  the defense team has shown this to the jury in Perugia,  Italy.

**See also scientific communities public statements on forensics:

He started off by discussing how the police were inappropriate. Even before Amanda was arrested. How legal documents, which were supposed to be secret were fully printed in the press and how the only people who had those documents were the police. He also spoke of the 4 books which were published here in Italy, complete with documents that only the police had. Even things of Amanda’s which were seized by police but not part of the evidence, like her school notebooks.

He went on to speak of how the police mistreated Meredith, Amanda and the family. How they had no respect. How the scientific police, who are paid by the government, and as such are supposed to be impartial, but in this case were absolutely not. How they acted like they work directly for the prosecution, and how they just tried to find guilt in Amanda and Raffaele rather than the truth. How they went about arresting Patrick, without checking facts first, and in the end, made Perugia look bad to the world. Then he attacked the slander charges. He said “Slander? When can a sleight be called slander? Let’s talk about what was said, by the prosecution, by the scientific police, by the local police, and by the other judges here, about Amanda and her family. The fault in Patrick’s arrest lies in the police, and so does all slander.”

He moved on to the knife and how the theory of it was absolutely without merit. Why would someone use 2 or 3 knives and discard all but one? He made fun of Stefanoni and her notes and all the various things she has stated then changed, regarding the knife.

Then the LCN DNA. He said that other countries are in the process of deciding if it should ever be used. He talked about a case in California and how they ruled against the use of LCN.

He said that this case is the first case in Italy where LCN has been implemented and there are grave considerations just on that alone, especially given the fact that there are no policies and procedures in place for its proper use. The other countries who do have policies in place are still considering not using it at all!

He talked about how Mignini stated that the position and condition of Meredith showed that there was more than one person involved in the murder, but when the coroner Dr. Lali said that the body did not show that more than one person was involved, Mignini fired him and replaced him with someone who agreed with his assertions. He said “I wonder why he was really fired??”

Then he talked about how Mignini thinks that Amanda was the one that hit Meredith’s head against the wall. How does he even come to this conclusion with no evidence of Amanda in the room? How Mignini said that there was a shoeprint of Amanda on Meredith’s pillow but after having the police search all of Amanda’s shoes and even going to the stores to see if they could find a women’s shoe that had a print which matched, they found nothing. Then he said that if you remove the crease in the pillow, it matched up perfectly with the print found on Rudy’s shoe.

He spoke about the cleanup that the police say occurred. “If Amanda and Raffaele are so cleaver, how could they clean up all traces of themselves, leaving all of Rudy’s evidence behind, considering that much of it is invisible, and yet forget something like a lamp or the bra clasp?” It is much more plausible that the lamp was used by Rudy, and the bra clasp was contaminated by the police in their many undocumented visits.

There was a recap of some things which were covered yesterday. How there was supposed to be glass on top of things on the floor, and yet, the video which was shown via spheron photos showed no glass. He also recapped the discussion about Amanda’s bathroom and the assertion by the prosecution that Amanda could not have had a shower in there because it was so bloody. Yesterday the actual condition of the bathroom was shown as was found by the police. It looked like a regular bathroom, with a slight brown smudge on the carpet. Thanks again to those spheron pictures taken by the police.

He went on to slam Meredith’s friends and all the bad things they said about Amanda when many had never even met her, and how each and every one of them said the exact same thing in court because they were coached. He also talked about how others witnessed these same friends all chatting lively outside the police station and the house, displaying behavior which was less than grieving.

He covered the various Giornale Di Umbria witnesses and their weaknesses. Then talked about others who conflicted with each other. How the two witnesses who said they heard screams, didn’t hear them at the same time, or at the time that another witness said she saw a black man running away.

It is amazing how different the US courts system is then other countries. I doubt Amanda would have ever seen the inside of a jail cell in the US. The story they have come up with to convict her of is completed absurd and anyone with any kind of intelligence would see that. I pray for her family and the family of the deceased. A terrible thing has happened to each family.

I'm fed up hearing you yanks whine about 'poor poor amanda',the girl was proven guilty of murder and deserves to go to jail.or is your arguement americans should just be allowed to do whatever they want around the world and not be held accountable in a court of law! That said i remember a few years ago there was a British girl who was a nanny for a family in the US where the baby died in myserious circumstances. The press here were just as stupid and up in arms that a UK citizen should be tried by the US courts as your press is being about Italy.

"....the girl was proven guilty of murder and deserves to go to jail"

Little different justice system there, Graeme.  Might not meet your approveal, if you were the one being convicted.

And the  British nanny,  the 19 year old tried in the US:  Wasn't her case overturned on appeal as well,  due to the outrage from the UK?

Stupid Britts and Euros, The sooner we finish developing that Star Wars Defense system Reagan was working on in the 80's the sooner we can nuke the lot of you.

Pray4all of you

I pray that all of you who think she is innocent will receive wisdom from God.  When someone we care about does something wrong, blinders are installed on our hearts and eyes.  She should have told the truth and will need to confess her sins for forgiveness - then the truth will be told.  You are embarrassing the US on this. Meradith is the victim not Amanda and it appears the facts were told.
