Hyderabad, April 6: The latest survey done by a TV channel forecast a clear majority for the Congress in the Assembly and a clear preference for the ruling party in the Parliament elections.

The survey, commissioned by HMTV and supervised by academic Prof. Haragopal, indicates that the mood of the people is everything that the Congress would like it to be under the present circumstances.

The survey polled a total of 5480 people in 279 of the state’s 294 constituencies. Voters in one polling booth in each constituency were asked several relevant questions to assess the mood of the people in the runup to the election. The sample was designed to represent all the major social groups, categories and occupations in the state. The survey also assessed regional variations in the mood of the people.

On the basis of the survey, the TV channel projected a seat share of 150 seats in the Assembly for the Congress, 90-100 for the Mahakutami, and a strong showing by the Praja Rajyam Party with 40-50 seats.

For the Lok Sabha election, the survey predicted a handsome return of 27 seats for the Congress, a disappointing 12 for the Mahakutami and a mere 2 for the Praja Rajyam. The MIM was tipped to get one seat.

The survey polled respondents on several questions, on each of which the voters indicated a clear preference for the Congress and appreciation of its performance. It was not clear how such a strong preference for the Congress did not translate into a tally of seats higher than 150. The presence of the third factor, the Praja Rajyam, seemed to be the factor responsible for this. If true, these polls portend a clear emergence of a three-cornered polity in the state.

Asked who they would vote for, 41.60 per cent of the respondents said they would go for the Congress, 27.4 per cent for the TDP, 19.40 per cent for the PRP, 7.2 per cent for the TRS. The Lok Satta got a creditable share of 2 per cent of the vote.

The other results of the survey are as follows:

Which party is better, Congress or TDP?

Congress 47.6%, TDP 27.90%. Among BCs, Cong was rated better by 45.8% of the respondents, the  TDP by 29.5%.

No one but an idiot can relate Satyam issue to some government.  2nd thing is all the surveys says congress wins. It's not right to say that a survey is wrong if it says congress is winning. You should see the response of people in congress meetings.

That survey is done before PRP announced it's candidates. After that survey there was a huge problem of revolts and rebels. Many leaders and cadre are left and still leaving everyday. Most of them are going towards congress . so winning seats for congress shud be more now. I guess it will be around 180+.
