Susan Dean, First Woman Convicted of Child Porn in Nevada

Susan Dean, 43, has become the first woman to be charged and convicted federally of possessing internet child pornography in the state of Nevada. She was sentenced yesterday to 10 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release.
It was on November 13, 2005, that the LVPD visited Dean's residence after her sister filed a report of concern for Susan Dean's sons, 12 and 14, as she said she had seen child pornography on Susan's computer.
When officers arrived at the residence and questioned Dean, she admitted that she had previously used the computer to engage in internet sex. Dean permitted the officers to view her computer files, and admitted that she had "bad" images of minors with adults on her computer.
Susan Dean had multiple child pornography images on her computer, about 200 images and 80 child porn videos.
The images and movies included depictions of young, prepubescent children and bondage, as well as sexual penetration of children by adults.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Florida officials have arrested a 16-year-old Tampa boy and charged him as an adult with 50 counts of possession of child pornography.
Patrick Melton of Tampa was originally taken into custody June 10 but charged as a minor. Officials later decided to try him as an adult and re-arrested him Monday. A spokesman for the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, J.D. Callaway, said Melton's computer was identified in a network of computers downloading and trading images and videos of children ages 2 to 12.
Melton is in jail with bail set at $100,000.

Oh that is sick. Somebody I went to high school with and knew was charged with possessing child pornography a few years ago - I never would have thought he was even capable of it.

HELLO CONCERNED PEOPLE OF CHILD PORN!!!
What's up with the FBI, Child Services, Project Safe Child or whatever other organization there is to protect our children?
What are they doing about the innocent children RIGHT NOW that are being molested by Catholic priests?
Don't tell me becuz it became public knowledge it no longer exists! These are the people that need to be investigated and punished.
This mother of 2 did not use her children for her sexual enjoyment nor did she create what was on her PERSONAL computer. Again PERSONAL computer. That does not make her guilty of sexual abuse towards minors. There was NO physical contact in this case whatsoever.
So hate on me cuz I think this sentence was totally extreme when I haven't heard of 1 Catholic priest doing any sort of time or restitution towards their victims.
WAKE UP AMERICA!!! LOOK AT WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON AND INVESTIGATE THE REAL CRIMINALS OF CHILD PORN & ABUSE.
I'm not accusing anyone of anything but I would bet that 85% of the files on Susan Dean's PERSONAL computer were produced and published on the Internet by a few priests.
Something for everyone to think about since Susan and her children have to pay a lifetime for something that was not caused by her. I think a lighter sentence with 10 years of counseling and working with adults who have committed such a crime on a child would've been more appropriate.
Lastly, where are all those priests now that have been proven guilty of this crime? What are they doing? Still living the good life and being well protected by the Church?
Before you pass judgement on me, I was raised Catholic and went to a Catholic private grammar school for 8 years and was married in a Catholic Church and all 3 of my children were baptisted in the Catholic Church as well.

Okay, First off!
This is the son of the susan, I want to say my mom didnt do shit... My aunt is a mental cunt and shes the one that needs to be in jail, not my mom. I attended the hearing and took a 30 minute testify... This is bullshit... 10 years... i haven't seen my mom since this all happened... im 18 years old... my mom NEVER touched me or my little brother, I have NEVER seen these images or videos nor has my mom EVER been known to doing anything like this... so for all those that are thinking "oh she deserves 10 years" or just talking mad shit period.... F**K off because you have NO IDEA what I have to go through...

I think we have to be VERY careful about declaring people GUILTY of sex crimes in this county. We are still steeped in Puritanism and it's easy to whip up a fever pitch to "burn them at the stake" This woman could very well be innocent and have been framed by her vindictive sister. Her boys could very well be telling the truth tat they lived a wholesome and loving life prior to this crazy mess being brought on by a, possibly, misguided relative. The frenzy of accusations of sexual crimes in our country right now is at least partially driven by our own fear of our own sexuality - much of it natural and healthy. I myself have never had any accusation of child pornography, never been sexually attracted to young children, or accused, or guilty of such. But, doesn't Hollywood and our culture actually PREACH an adoration of youth and sex? Is it surprising that these two could intersect - if only in the fantasy world of internet porn. Is it REALLY a crime if there is no evidence of live, actual, physical abuse. And, where does Michael Jackson fall into all this? It's OK for him to SLEEP with young boys, but not OK for this woman to LOOK at naked pictures of young boys? I caution you all to not be so quick to judge.
