Remains of a Woman's Body Found in Wyoming Are Similar to Those of Missing Susan Powell

No confirmation has been made and an identity could take weeks, but police have confirmed that they have contacted Susan Powell's family in Puyallup after remains were found that match Powell's description. The body found is described to be a woman in her 30s, about five feet tall with short brown hair.

Susan Powell has not been seen since December 2009, when she left her Utah home. Her husband, Josh Powell, who is a 'person of interest' in the case, reported Susan missing after he returned home from a camping trip with their two sons and she was gone. Josh has since moved to Washington with the boys.

Shelby Gifford, the Powell family spokesperson, said since December relatives have been contacted "seven to eight times" by police who have found unidentified bodies.

“There really is no good outcome when the phone rings,” said Gifford.

There have been a number of occasions when it was thought Susan Powell had been found; this past April the body of a woman was discovered near Idaho Falls but it was determined not to be the missing Susan.
