Suspicious Package, Closes Atlanta Transit Station, Evacuation
A Buckhead MARTA train station in Atlanta, Georgia is being evacuated due to a suspicious package. More information as story develops
Update 12:14 p.m. -
MARTA spokeswoman Andrea Coleman said the package was discovered shortly after 11 a.m. outside the station.
The package was determined not to be a threat, and the station reopened about noon, Coleman said.
ATLANTA - The MARTA Buckhead station is shutdown due to a suspicious package, said MARTA officials Tuesday.
MARTA spokesperson Andrea Coleman said the package was not on the rail nor was it in the station.
A bus bridge has been established between the Lindbergh, Buckhead and Medical Center rail stations to transport passengers.
The MARTA Police Department is investigating.
Suspicious Package Shuts Down Peachtree Road
ATLANTA -- Atlanta police and Atlanta fire officials were called to a report of a suspicious package near the 3300 block of Peachtree Road in Buckhead Tuesday morning.Peachtree Road was closed in both directions in the area while officials investigated. There is no word on when the road will reopen.News Chopper 2 flew over the scene just after 11 a.m

Thanks to all who recommended this story. Thankfully the package was cleared and all folks were allowed to return to the Marta and surrounding buildings. I spoke with a person who works in Buckhead, she related that the incident was over within two hours
