Suspicious Package At Norfolk International Airport Harmless
A suspicious package at Norfolk International Airport has caused yet another airport security scare amidst many security breaches that have made the news in the last week. The package turned out to be harmless. Initially, the package tested positive for explosives, but X-ray examination determined there were no explosives inside. There are reports suggesting the package contained DVDs, clothes and other items.
It is alleged an employee left a box unattended early Friday morning. The owner of the package has already been questioned. No flights were delayed over the incident.
Airport authorities commented saying, "You don't leave unattended bags and boxes in an airport today. It's just not done."
On Tuesday, Bakerfield Airport was shut down over hazardous material found in a piece of luggage. It turned out later the material was honey. On Sunday, Newark Liberty International Airport was closed down for hours as thousands of passengers had to be re-screened after an unidentified man walked into the secure zone without being checked.
