Sunday the Swiss will vote on a minaret ban referendum. Islam is the second largest religous faith in Switzerland, following Christianity.
Some 400,000 Muslims live in Switzerland - whose population is just under 8 million. Most Muslim citizens are immigrants from the former Yugoslavia and Turkey.
But though Islam is the country's second largest religion after Christianity, there are only four mosques with minarets in the whole country - all applications to build minarets have been turned down in recent years.
Some conservative Christians oppose the construction of minarets to accompany the mosque because they represent the growth of an alien culture within Switzerland. In an attempt to show that they had nothing to fear from Islam, prayer rooms were opened to the public.

This is a problem with a culture that want to bring its religion to a new country that has a completely different culture and religion.

Not so many differences in culture. What is so different about the two religions ? When practiced traditionaly, they are virtually identical. Secular ? Well there are plenty of secular Muslims as well.
