For me the first thing to adjust [to] is language. So hard for me to adjust. You know, what do they talk about? What is it? I just learned ABC from a radio at camp [refugee camp]; I know how to answer a teacher's question. But in here, even one word.
If [you were a] teacher in your country, you can the bilingual test. If you pass the test you can get your certificate or diploma and you can apply at a school to be a bilingual teacher to work with bilingual students from Vietnam, from Cambodia, from Laos.
You know that the first time I go to take the test, the reason I like to go was because I want to see what kind of test that they give to the people here in the United States. I like to know the school system and what they do. I don't care pass or not.
I start, they said, "OK time. Start. Open!" I think, "How can I do?" Because [there were] many pages, many pages. I think [to] myself, I survive[d] in the jungle, I can survive the test.
