Taliban ambushed road workers killed 35 in Afghanistan

The authorities in eastern Afghanistan said 35 road workers have been killed in an attack by insurgents. The attack happened in the early hours of the morning, insurgents opened fire on the road workers compound where the men were building a road funded by the international communities in the mountainous area of Paktia province. There was gun battle lasting up to 5 hours which also killed at least 8 insurgents. It is the deadliest attacks in Afghanistan in months; the Taliban said it carried out the attack. In remote areas of Afghanistan, the Taliban and other insurgents often task construction workers, in some areas it is impossible to carry out work with paying bribes to local commandos. 20 people were also injured in the attack as well.
