Local Taliban in Mitchni, Mohmand Agency, tribal areas situated on Pak-Afghan border have publicly executed a young man they have captured in an operation besides buring the houses of his relatives on the second day of the cleanup operation in the areas.

The dead bodies, including of those killed in the operation were later handed over to the Dadu Khel tribe for burial and locals said that the confirmed death toll was six dead on the part of Noor Sham group while one Taliban activist had also lost his life in the operation, pushing the number to 7 dead.

"There are rumours that at least a dozen people have been killed but we cannot confirm it as according to our information seven people have been killed so far," claimed residents, adding that the houses of Ghulam Haider, Noor Sham, Bashi Khan and Hazrat Khan were first set on fire and them dynamited by the militants.

They said that earlier Noor Sham was taken into custody after he ran out of ammunition in the night long battle with the militants.

"He was captured alive and was shot dead by these Taliban after the funeral prayers of their comrade who was a resident of Kohat Road Peshawar and killed last night," they said, adding that the entire area was in the grip of tension and fear as local people had expelled all the Taliban from the area in the past but they had restarted their activities in Mitchni.

About 500 militants took part in the operation and their inventory of weapons was the most impressive as multiple rocket launchers and other such things are not available even to the para-military forces in the area.

Taliban had cordoned of the whole area by blocking all the routes leading to the agency in their bid to stop other criminals reach the area for the help of Noor Sham as he was the leader of his own faction of Taliban.

"About 6 pm Taliban vacated the whole area leaving behind the burning houses," they said.

"Sheeno Ghanday Village is the main centre of these militants headed by two commanders Shahkeel and Ihtishamul Haq and their headquarters are located in the house of a local Malik Habibullah," they informed.
