According to Channel 4 news reports, Selavarajah Padmanabhan, the LTTE International Plenipotentiary has informed "Sri Lankan military put the propaganda. This one a wrong information. Prabaharan is still alive. For security reasons we cannot say where he is now" in a telephone interview. Watch the source: channel4

Sri Lankan state propaganda media announced the 'death of Prabaharan" continously and Sinhalese celebrated it with crackers, milk rice and sambal as 'end of Eelam'. The announcement of LTTE on Prabaharan's safety gives hope to Tamils around the world. Also it is a clear indication of the propaganda war carried out in this war. International community need to send independent experts to record the human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity (before the evidences are distroyed by Sri Lankan state) without further delay.

Tamils' goal to live freely in Tamil Eelam did not start with LTTE and will not end with LTTE.

The Sri Lankan state terrorism deployed a similar but comparatively smaller massacre of Tamils in 1983 Black July. 2500 Tamils burnt alive in Colombo by Sinhalese.

1983 The Government masterminded anti-Tamil riots in July 83. More than 6,000 Tamils were killed by the Sinhalese in the South. Tamil houses and businesses were looted and destroyed. Tamils living in the South were sent in ships to the North and East by the government. 250,000 Tamils were made refugees; 2,500 Tamils were burnt or hacked to death; 500 Women were raped; 53 Tamil political prisoners were brutally murdered in the maximum security Welikada prison on 25-27th July. Sinhala extremist groups and thugs, ruined the socioeconomic and the political rights of the Tamil people. Anti-Tamil riots also in 1956, 1958, 1977, and 1981. (Violation of UDHR articles - 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 23, 24, 25, 26)

The Sri Lankan state terrorism also killed Kuttimany and others in Weligada high security prison in 1983; the Sinhalese chauvinism thought they have managed scare Tamils away from the dream of living freely in Tamil Eelam forever.

However, LTTE emerged stronger than ever to counter attack the Sri Lankan state terrorism, they have done with dignity and respect for over 25 years. For example, even now, during the bitter end of war, the LTTE released 7 Sri Lankan Army soldiers, who were captured in the fight; the LTTE has done this few times before in history too.

Tamil Eelam is the political solution for long term solution in Sri Lanka, and it will be attained.

When Tamils are cried of  thousands of tamils in safe zone killed , we given the proof.  What IC done with those proofs? Now the genocide is almost in its end.

Now , They want to destroy our freedom of struggle by making propaganda of Tamil leader Pirabhakaran died and you are asking proofs from Tamils. Why don't you people never ask proof from Srilankan Sinhala Government for Pirabhakaran's death.

Last Sunday, I saw and later blogged a Tamil protest at Spadina and Dundas, in the heart of Toronto's downtown Chinatown.

http://rfmcdpei.livejournal.com/1801889.html

The crowd was heartfelt, and I couldn't help but sympathize with the suffering of the innocents, but the movement was clearly associated with the Tamil Tigers, what with signs stating that the Tigers are the Sri Lanka Tamils' only legitimate representatives. (They might be now, since the Tigers helped the Sri Lankan government kill off the others.)

The Sri Lankan government did not allow media or aid agencies into the "safety zone". UN aid workers who came out from the "safety zone" were not allowed to talk to UN, and are detained in the state detention camps.

Where are the news coming from that the LTTE used civilians as human shield? If the news is true, why not let all foreign media in and let the journalists report the story in all possible angles? There are over 100,000 IDPs who came from the "safety zone" are now in the government ran detention camps. If the news is true, then the Sri Lankan governement would have let the media in a long time ago.

War crime in the massacre of LTTE officials

While rejecting Colombo's claim of the killing of LTTE leader V. Pirapaharan and assuring his safety and well-being, LTTE's International Relations Head S. Pathmanathan Tuesday accused Colombo of treachery in the killing of the political wing leaders B. Nadesan and S. Puleedevan. Mr. Pathmanathan said it is a crime against humanity that needs to be investigated. Meanwhile, informed sources told TamilNet that what happened in the early hours of Monday was a well-planned massacre of several unarmed civil officers of the LTTE with the aim of annihilating its political structure. At the orders of a 'top defence figure,' an international arrangement involving a Sri Lankan minister to arrange safe exit to the civil officers was defied, the sources said.

Political observers compared Monday's massacre with the prison massacre of Tamil liberation fighters in 1983 and events leading to the collective death of 12 senior leaders and cadres of the LTTE in 1987.

Tamil circles also commented that any surrender of the LTTE as pressed by the International Community would have seen a similar fate to its cadres, had it been heeded.

The clarifications from Mr. Pathmanathan follow:

Statement 1:

I wish to inform the Global Tamil community distressed witnessing the final events of the war that our beloved leader Velupillai Pirapaharan is alive and safe. He will continue to lead the quest for dignity and freedom for the Tamil people.

The President and the Government of Sri Lanka needing to carry on and gloat in the planned Victory Celebrations on Tuesday, had their military establishment deliberately come up with the story detailing the demise of the leader of the LTTE. We categorically reject this and wish to inform the Tamil community to be vigilant and to exercise maximum restraint whilst grieving for the loss of Tamil civilian lives in the barbaric conduct of the final chapters of this battle.

The Tamil freedom struggle is a just cause and will not be quashed by the events of the last 24 hours. Truth and justice will always prevail.

Statement 2:

We wish to bring to the notice of the International Community the events of the last 24 hours in the so called safety zone in the war in Sri Lanka.

Subsequent to our announcement that the LTTE had decided to "silence the guns" in view of the unbearable civilian carnage at the hands of the Sri Lankan military and the heavy weaponry donated to it by third parties, we were informed by some member states of the International Community that arrangements had been made with the Sri Lankan military for discussions on an orderly end to the war.

We were instructed to make contact with the 58th Division of the Sri Lankan forces in the war zone, un-armed and carrying white flags. Head of our Political Wing, Mr. B. Nadesan and Mr. Puleedevan then proceeded to do so. They were un-armed and carrying white flags and were called on by the Officers of the 58th Division to come forward for discussions. When they complied they were both shot and killed. We vehemently condemn this action. The International Community needs to take this into account in its deliberations about charges of "Crimes against Humanity" against the members of the Sri Lanka Government and its military establishment. This act is even more unpalatable when one takes into account that the LTTE released as an act of goodwill, seven Sri Lankan Prisoners of War the day before totally unharmed.

We appeal to the International Community to act now to ensure the safety and basic needs of the displaced people who are suffering in the prison camps of the Sri Lankan military. The onus is now on the International Community to see that further war crimes and crimes against humanity are not committed on Tamils by the Sri Lankan state and to force the Sri Lankan state to yield in to the political aspirations of the Tamil people.

"...massacre of several unarmed civil officers of the LTTE with .."

Classic..! Flabbergasting..!!

So finally LTTE realized that killing of unarmed civil "officers" is wrong..!

Now look at this..

What kind of terrorist attacks have the LTTE undertaken?
The LTTE, which may have between 7,000 and 15,000 armed combatants (PDF), is notorious for its suicide bombings. Since the late 1980s, the group has conducted approximately two hundred suicide attacks. Targets have included transit hubs, Buddhist shrines, and office buildings. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the LTTE invented the suicide belt and pioneered the use of women in suicide attacks. LTTE fighters wear cyanide capsules around their necks so they can commit suicide if they are captured.

Beyond suicide bombings, the LTTE has used conventional bombs and Claymore mines to attack political and civilian targets, and has gunned down both Sri Lankan officials and civilians. In an April 2008 report, the U.S. State Department also accuses the LTTE of engaging in abductions and extortion. According to the report, violations of the 2002 cease-fire agreement by both the LTTE and the government have killed more than 5,000 people since 2006.*

Many of the LTTE's victims have been public officials. Over the past twenty years, the LTTE has been accused of assassinating almost a dozen high-level figures, including two heads of state. Assassinations and attacks on officials allegedly committed by the LTTE include:

*The May 1991 assassination of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at a campaign rally in India;
*The May 1993 assassination of Sri Lankan President Ranasinghe Premadasa;
*The July 1999 assassination of a Sri Lankan member of parliament, Neelan Thiruchelvam, an ethnic *Tamil involved in a government-sponsored peace initiative;
*A pair of December 1999 suicide bombings in Colombo that wounded Sri Lankan President Chandrika Kumaratunga;
*The June 2000 assassination of Sri Lankan Industry Minister C.V. Goonaratne;
*The August 2005 assassination of Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar;
*The January 2008 assassination of a member of parliament from the opposition United National Party (UNP), T. Maheswaran;
*The January 2008 assassination of Sri Lankan Nation-Building Minister D. M. Dassanayake;
*The February 2008 assassination of two cadres of the political party and paramilitary group Tamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal (TMVP); and
*The April 2008 assassination of Sri Lankan Highway Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle.

How can an "accused" accuse others? There's an Interpol Red Tag on his head and Chennai High Courts ardently await him.
