Tamil youth arrested in Anuradhapura [TamilNet, Wednesday, 11 February 2009, 20:25 GMT]
A Tamil youth was arrested Tuesday in Neriyaku'lam in Anuradhapura district by a special team of the Terrorist Intelligence Division (TID) and is being detained in the police for further inquiry, said Senior Superintendent of Police Ranjit Gunasekara, Police spokesman in Colombo district. The youth is a resident of Maangku'lam.

He added the youth was taken into custody on receipt of information linking him to bringing to Anuradhapura the suicide cadre of the LTTE suspected to be the killer of retired Major General Janaka Perera.

Major General (retd) Janaka Perera and several others were killed on October 6 last year when a suicide cadre attacked the General at the opening of the UNP office in Anuradhapura, sources said.
