Tareq and Michaele Salahi have been called "dinner crashers" for allegedly showing up to the White House State Dinner uninvited. The couple appeared on NBC Today on Tuesday denying gate-crashing. Michaele Salahi said she and her husband were invited to the party, and that it would take audacity and poor behaviour to crash uninvited at the White House. The Salahis claim they have emails to prove they have been invited. The couple failed to clarify who invited them, however. They also say they expect a complete exoneration as they are co-operating with the Secret Service. The Sahalis said their lives have been destroyed by the media scrutiny. The White House insists the Salahis were not invited. White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the Obama family were angered by the gate-crashing incident.

"We were invited, not crashers, and there isn't anyone that would have the audacity or the poor behavior to do that. The White House is 'the house' and no one would do that, certainly not us," said Michaele Salahi, who appeared with her husband Tareq on NBC's "Today" show.

"Unfortunately, we've been mischaracterized. Our lives have really been destroyed," Tareq Salahi said.

Meanwhile, White House is investigating the security breach. A hearing will be held on the matter on Thursday, December 3. The hearing will focus on the breakdown of security arrangements on the evening of Tuesday, November 24, deficiencies in security planning leading up to the State Dinner, and actions taken to correct the vulnerabilities. The hearing is expected to be attended by the Salahis, where their testimony will be heard.

Can't believe they are lying again. It's unbelievable they think they could lie their way out of this. People already know these two are professional con artists - have stolen money from the charities (which is not even registered) they hosted to maintain their lavish lifestyles. On top never paid the vendors they hired for the events. She was doing it before she met him - when she was working in a retail store, one day started to say she was a model, then suddenly she was also a Redskins cheerleader, then a Victoria secrets model. All of which turned out to be lies. Now she has converted her husband into a scam artist too, ruined the Salahi family with her lying ways. Bankrupted and humiliated an entire family.
