March 20, 2008; Singur, Bengal; Tapan Kole, a contract farmer used to work in the lands before the Tatas took it away for constructing a new plant for its small car Nano. Lush green fields surround the under construction Tata motors plant in Singur village in West Bengal. This plant, has recently come under fire from farmers and villagers for forcefull acquisition of agricultural land. The ruling Communist Goverment in the state used strong police force to intimidate poor farmers and grabbed 1013 acres of land. And as the farmers start committing suicide, modern India eagerly waits for the One-lakh car to roll out in mid-October 2008.
