March 20, 2008; Singur, Bengal; Words of protest painted on the walls of village houses in Singur. Lush green farm fields surround the under construction Tata motors plant in Singur village in West Bengal. This plant, which will produce the Tata's small car Nano, has recently come under fire from farmers and villagers for forcefull acquisition of agricultural land. The ruling Communist Goverment in the state used strong police force to intimidate poor farmers and grabbed 1013 acres of land. And as the farmers start committing suicide, modern India eagerly waits for the One-lakh car to roll out in mid-October 2008.
