Tea Parties in Wonderland
What has come to be known as the Tea Party Movement has been hailed and embraced by some in the United States as a movement of citizens against taxes and excessive government spending.
Based upon observations, some personal, others analytic, the author of this piece states his belief that the impetus of many of the tea parties that have been and are being held, in addition to being anti taxes and government spending, is a core of group of supporters who, among other things, are anti President Obama, anti immigration and what has been described in many terms as anti what they describe as the country's descent into socialism, without offering any solutions to address any issues they oppose.

Many "Tea Party" participants literally don't want to pay any taxes. Other participants are concerned about the size and spending policies of the federal government. Size and spending are legitimate issues, however one wonders why we didn't hear about Tea Parties throughout most of George W. Bush's presidency.
