Tea Party Hooligans and Their Legacy

Once again a group of loudmouths are throwing a "tea party" to protest having to pay tax. They claim that they are American patriots, that they are responsible people, that they have family values, and that they are true America. All of their claims are lies.

With the government, it is not "pay or not pay." It is "pay now or pay later." For as long as you have military, police, roads, schools, fire departments, courts, universities, social security, and further on down the line, you will have the government. Whose bills will be footed either by you or by your children. That is the underlying reality, and no amount of dogma or shouting will change it.

Which means that not wanting to pay tax is irresponsible, short-sighted, unpatriotic, and an act of severely injuring one's children as well as one's country. And nobody who takes this stance has any business claiming to have family values, or to be American patriots, or to be responsible people. The anti-tax people got themselves a tax break by putting a $10 trillion debt on their children and grandchildren. And for that they will be hated for as long as the memory of them remains.

Because these people don't want to pay tax, America is now $10 trillion in the hole. Much of that debt is now held by such entities as the People's Republic of China, that have other agendas than generosity or American patriotism in owning that debt. The anti-tax people have vastly weakened America and made it dependent upon people whose interests are hostile to America's. And that makes them traitors to the country that they ridiculously claim to be theirs and that they ridiculously claim to love. The anti-tax people have done more to weaken America than have any number of terrorists. And that will be known as their legacy.

Many of the anti-tax people claim that they are doing what they are doing for freedom. Nothing can be further from the truth. These are the same people who believe that only one lifestyle is acceptable and who do everything that they can to destroy all other lifestyles. What they are, therefore, is this: Totalitarians. Totalitarians who want the government out of the picture so that they can perpetuate totalitarian abuses against the people in the communities in which they operate - and for the people in these communities to have no protection against them.

Whether an entity perpetuating oppression is official and unofficial, means nothing to the people whom it oppresses, any more than it matters say to the Africans whether they are being raped and murdered by a white or a black despot. Unofficial entities in America perpetrate far greater oppression and greater corruption and greater abuses than does the government. The government is subject to constitutional checks and balances and oversight by media and electorate. Unofficial entities are not. Which empowers them to do far greater wrongdoing than does the government. And that is especially the case for the kind of people who get involved in Tea Party type gatherings.

These people then ridiculously claim that they are America, and that the rest of America isn't. Meanwhile it is the rest of America that is responsible for America's real accomplishments. The Democratic coastal cities, the Democrat-initiated Democrat-staffed computer industry, the vastly Democratic science, are the true economic engines of America and the true source of what America has. Whereas the right-wing entities - Big Oil that has for thirty years lied to the people and lobbied the government to keep silent, preventing real progress in clean energy and causing the current catastrophe; the anti-government government-subsidized Big Beef that takes the land that could feed 2 billion and uses most of it to raise cattle feed so that it produces a fraction of what it should produce; the anti-government truckers who use government-built government-maintained Interstate to deliver products made by anti-government government-subsidized beef farmers to big liberal cities that are their markets; are, for the most part, parasitical. That does not mean that the Republicans don't work. It means that their economic activities are to a great extent against national interest and are dependent upon the very things that they want gone. Without the government Interstate, government beef subsidies, government science, and government silencing the truth about global warming for 30 years, none of these entities would be economically viable. And these entities depend fully upon the very government that they want gone.

Not wanting to pay tax is hypocrisy, irresponsibility, short-sightedness, and an act of injuring one's country as well as one's children. And I say this as somebody who's been in the high-income tax bracket and never had qualms about paying high-income bracket tax. The Tea Party people are not America; they are the worst elements in America. And their myopia, their irresponsibility, and the damage they've done to America and their children, will be remembered for generations to come.

Right on.

The whole deal about "taxation without representation" and the phony flags of "don't tread on me" are plagiarized expressions which are out of context and irrelevant to the crisis we are facing.  It is not difficult to connect the dots of this emotional outcry from disgruntled conservations to the media experts (aka fox news, murdoch, limbaugh, beck, coulter, palin) who are shaping the minds of the mindless.

Simpletons and the uneducated are easy fodder for the likes of angry and self righteous.  The Tea party, as a chapter organization of the RNC, is not about national unity and collective based solutions as much as it is a group of people who demand accountability to insipid standards of ubber conservatism.  The entire imagery of guns, weapons, taking aim, reloading evokes the mindless to zombie-like demonstrations of violence, hatred, and racism... the true nature of their soul.

Thanks for your entry... I am glad to finally read some good common sense analysis.

I have never heard a TEA Party person say they are against paying taxes.  They, like most reasonable Americans, see the importance and need of taxes for us to have a functioning government.  What they are against is the rapid growth of a government out of control.  A government that never evaluates or reviews any program for effectiveness.  Instead they continue pouring money into programs that don't work and continue to increase in expense.  There is not one program held accountable for their actions.  Would a private company continue to pour money into a program that is bleeding it dry?  Well maybe now that our government decides who is "too big to fail" and protects some companies from failure.  Why do we continue to allow our government to pass more and more laws that are never enforced?  What is the point.  Apparently, one of the next issues to be tackled is immigration reform.  Why?  There are numerous laws on the books that are currently not enforced. This is what TEA Party members, and everyday Americans, are against.  A bloated, wasteful, ineffective government that is not responsive to the needs of the people who are being taxed.  I have no problem with being taxed.  I have a problem with being taxed and then seeing MY hard earned money wasted.  I have a problem with spending my money wisely, making choices about what I can and can't afford, only to see my money go to provide someone with something that they "need"  because of poor choices they have made in their lives.

It was the Republican administrations, that Tea Party people wanted in place, that gave America $10 trillion debt. Only Clinton did anything about it, and his party was voted out of Congress for passing the deficit reduction bill.

The $10 trillion debt was forced by Tea Party Republicans on their children in order that they could themselves have a tax break. The poor choices made by Tea Party Republicans have now become a crushing burden on their children, who will have to pay all this off while not having the benefit of many of government's programs.

The Tea Party Republicans claim that they have family values while they do this to their children, they claim to be American patriots while they do this to their country, and they claim to be responsible people while partaking in this collossal irresponsibility.

The Tea Party Republicans will be known as major villains of American history. And not even praying for Armageddon in 2012 will change that.

Well my friend, lets examine what you have just said shall we, if your IRS payments went to a European owned and ran company, had a Federal reserve that not only IS private, but refuses to open its books, then just maybe you might make a few protests.DO you remember the pol tax demonstrations, the fuel cost demonstrations, they worked here to.As for them being loud mouthed hooligan types, quite a few Senators are urging people to go, as are a lot of the radio stations, if there are people who cause trouble, they will have gone because it is with the intent to do so, political football thugs.Having said this, i would point out the Bank of England is a private bank, every pound in your pocket is created at interest, which we all have to pay for, so debt is built into the system,Its no longer backed by gold, the pound is only worth what the money market, says its worth in exchange for other currencies.

I take it you are writing from England, and you are describing the situation in England?

The situation in America is as follows: The government is $10 trillion in debt, accrued under Republican administrations, with the only government that did anything serious about it having been the Clinton government, whose party was voted out of the Congress in 1994 for passing his deficit reduction bill.

There is a crushing debt burden hanging over the younger people because the Tea Party Republicans decided they did not want to pay taxes and to replace "tax-and-spend" with a far more irresponsible borrow-and-spend.

That, deserves a  fair deal more protest than does the fact that America has a government.
