I went to this tea party in Santa Monica, California (Ocean Way and Colorado Ave) expecting to find overweight, bitter, Republicans.  Well, I was wrong.  What I actually found was mostly old, bitter Republicans.

The tea party went from 3pm to 7pm, so I showed up midway at about 5pm. Fox News promised it wouldn't be partisan, but I saw several anti-Obama signs.

D-d-d-d-did Fox News lie to me?

Here is a guide to my photographs/slide show:

1 - I asked these tea partiers if they understood that 95% of Americans were getting tax breaks under President Obama and they said "No, we're not."  I followed that up with, "Can I have your tax refund?'

2 - A tea party wouldn't be complete without the "Obama birth certificate conspiracy" folks.  Do they know that John McCain was born in Panama?

3 - Where's the wayback machine?  Why, why, it's Thomas Paine in full costume. And look at his lovely smile.  Think he's happy Obama won?

4 - An angry tea partier tells a TV journalist that "It's the fault of those damn Democrats in Sacramento!"  I thought for sure he was going to blame those damn Democrats in Washington D.C., but then again, I didn't hear the whole rant.

5 - I counted about 50 tea partiers out of a city of about 3.8 million people (Los Angeles).  I stood in front of oncoming traffic for this picture on Ocean Way. Behind the tea partiers is Pacific Ocean, which leads to... socialist countries!  A few thousand miles away.

Your inability to count beyond 50 for a crowd of at least 400 and I suspect more like 500, indicates a significant lack of creditability. Not understanding that 95% of Americas don't pay taxes and most of those that are receiving those "tax reductions" are actually getting hand-outs paid for by real tax payer seems to indicate a lack of comprehension of the complex BS that the government and media is feeding you.

As for the State tax concerns. The Fed's reduced tax withholdings and not tax rates as part of the federal "stimulus" efforts. This will temporarily put an additional $1200 in each tax payer’s pocket. The new taxes effective April 1, 2009 in CA will cost the average CA Tax payer $1300 this year.

Can we all say shell game?

With the new withholding tables, if the federal tax rates do not change, one can anticipate paying an additional $1200 next April 15th. If you got a refund, the refund will be $1200 less or one may be paying.

And you haven’t even touched on SSI taxes, Sales Taxes, Property Taxes, Vehicle “Fees”, Fuel Taxes, Death Taxes, Tolls, and on and on. With all the crazy spending going on, it will only get worse. Enough already!

The crowd was nowhere close to 400, most people there wee gawking at the 50-something tea baggers. Come out of your Sean Hannity dream world.

The fact is 95% of Americans are getting a tax break, a better tax break for the middle class than the Reagan years.

95% don't pay taxes?  Thanks for not backing that lie up without one shred of proof.

Why do you care what other people's tax breaks are?  Who are you to judge who should get what? You're just some loser anonymous poster.

"Real tax payer?'  Is that like that bullshit "Real American." Give me a break!"

As far as California taxes, that's a GOP governor, funny you didn't mention that.

McCain was born on an American military base in Panama which is considered American soil.

Whereas Kenya is not America nor do we have any bases there.

Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, which is the 50th state of the USA.

McCain was born on the foreign soil of Panama; nowhere in the US Constitution does it say that US military bases in foreign countries are "American soil."

Kind of funny how you asked these people to take their picture with a back drop away from the crowd of about 400.  Do you favor a government who spends your taxes on excess or are you in the group who does not pay taxes?  This was about taxes not which party you are apart of.

There were about 50 actual tea partiers there, far outnumbered by the bystanders. In fact, the Santa Monica tea bagger site only had a commitment of 181 so I don't know you get 400.

I obey the tax laws of the U.S. and am grateful for the enormous tax break President Obama is giving 95% of Americans.
