Teach five-year-olds to beware of advertising! brainwashing?
This is what I term as environmental indoctrination ,the corporate company advertisers are not the first to recognize. That the young are easily indoctrinated its a practice that has been used by religions for centuries. Then politicians took up that same path knowing that the very young can be brainwashed into almost anything, one would want them to believe in. You just have to make it look attractive to keep their attention.
Hitler and his NAZI associates used this factor and also those that impose fundamental political (such as communism) or religious indoctrinations, feeding their very evil ideologies to the very young.
Many advertising methods are based on mass indoctrination, that the products the sell are the best, repeat that message enough times and people believe the indoctrination is true, or, buy the product to see if it is.
Offering goodies to the schools allows the advertisers, to get nearer to the target of sales, the susceptible children.
This process of indoctrinating children is also used to day in impoverished nations by war lords and terror organizations, that capture young children and train them to be soldiers and indoctrinate them to murder.
Our kids are very susceptible they are in a learning stage their minds are open to indoctrination in fact most of us as children have been indoctrinated our self's as kids, most stay indoctrinated in many beliefs some strange an weird.
I would like to see all forms of indoctrination such as religion and politics, removed and banned, but that is impossible in our societies. But what is possible is banning all advertising directed at our young, those that are under 18 years old.
Children as young as five should be given lessons in how to deal with the onslaught of adverts hurled at them, a government inquiry has found.The inquiry into the commercialisation of childhood revealed that firms spend at least £100bn each year advertising to children in the UK. It said children are increasingly bombarded by brands, advertising slogans and commercial messages.
Even children in primary school need lessons in becoming media-savvy consumers, according to the inquiry by Prof David Buckingham, an international expert on children's consumption of the web, TV and adverts.

Kids need to be protected from manipulation, obviously. The first time I remember being asked to pray to Jesus I was six and I refused. We are born knowing we should pray to only 1.

I was never forced just indoctrinated at school, no need to pray to any one but one needs to believe in one self. We are born we live and we die there is no magical after life. When you are born you know how to cry and how to drink milk know how to see, know how to hear. You then learn how to survive. One is certainly not born religious but born into a religion.and culture.
Unfortunately we are more susceptible when young those that invented the more sophisticated religion where wise about that. It spread like a virus it was a tool to get people to do as they where told. Where some the leaders made statements they where related to god or closer to god. How gullible can humans still be. Advertisers know about that factor and about indoctrinating the kids.
Perhaps they need protecting from their parents stupid beliefs? I sometimes think so.
