Ted Cruz keeps talking and teen busted for pot pic
Subjects in the news:
Republican U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, during the government shutdown, lead an old fashioned filibuster in the U.S. Senate. He is leading the filibuster against the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare. Sen. Cruz is stating he is doing so because a majority vote in support of funding for it would be a vote against the will of the people. What?!
Look, filibusters aren't about the will of the people, it is about requiring a supermajority vote to have an actual vote on a bill. Heck, the U.S. Senate isn't about the will of the people.
Wyoming has the same number of Senators as California, even though California has over 80 times as many people. There are suburbs of Los Angeles with more people then in all of Wyoming.
Cruz represents more people in the U.S. Senate then all but two other senators, those of course from California. To talk about the will of the people in the Senate is absurd.
II. A teenage girl was busted for posting a photo of her and some friends with marijuana. Now, she was an actual minor, not a made up minor for the purposes of alcohol laws (those 18-20) and is 17 years old.
But, isn't there something scary about police going through Facebook and other social media sites to see if some teens or young adults have marijuana?
Yes, go after the gangbangers bragging about beating someone up. But as everyone is starting to realize, the war on marijuana is absurd.
