Ted Kennedy Dead: Senator Kennedy Dead at 77
Senator Edward 'Ted Kennedy' died Tuesday night at his home in Hyanis, Maine. Kennedy finally succumbed to the brain cancer he has battled for the last year. Kennedy was 77.
A member of the Kennedy clan, Ted Kennedy served as the senator for Massachusetts since 1962. During that time, Kennedy earned a reputation as a the "liberal lion of the Senate."
Kennedy had met his fair share of controversy. In 1969, Kennedy was involved in a serious car crash that killed Mary Jo Kopechne, a former campaign worker for brother Robert F. Kennedy. Kopechne's body was found in an flipped car on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts.
Kennedy admitted to leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury, and received a suspended sentence. The so-called Chappaquiddick incident damaged his reputation and ultimately may have sunk his hopes for a presidential bid in 1972.
Over the years, however, Kennedy remained a popular and high-profile politician. During the last year, Kennedy was diagnosed with a brain tumor and struggled with his health. He reportedly collapsed during a luncheon on the day of Barack Obama's inauguration.
Ted Kennedy's death comes just weeks after the death of Eunice Kennedy Shriver.

“Teddy Kennedy was the weak kitten in the litter, never able to measure up to his brothers. The accident at Chappaquiddick displayed his chronic immaturity. One problem Teddy has always had was keeping it in his pants – even when other people are around.”- Cleo O’Donnell – wife of former Kennedy campaign aide.Read my take on the senator, and stick around for more good content.libertarianhumor.com/2009/08/26/the-lion-err-dog-of-the-senate/
