Teenaged girl flogged by Taliban in Pakistan

A 17-year-old screaming, burqa-clad girl was whipped by Taliban fighters in Pakistan's restive Swat Valley for coming "out of her house with another guy who was not her husband", a two-minute video shot through a mobile phone showed.
The video showed the girl face down on the ground. Two men held her arms and feet while a third, a black-turbaned fighter with a flowing beard, whipped her repeatedly, the Guardian reported.
The newspaper said it received the video through Samar Minallah, a Pashtun documentary maker.
"Please stop it," the girl begged repeatedly. "Either kill me or stop it now."
After 34 lashes the punishment stopped and the wailing girl was led into a stone building.
"She came out of her house with another guy who was not her husband, so we must punish her. There are boundaries you cannot cross," the Guardian quoted Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan as saying.
The punishment was meted out within last 10 days, Minallah said.
"This video is being widely circulated because the Taliban want people to see it. They want to give the message that this is taking place after the peace deal because this is something they ideologically believe in," the newspaper quoted her as saying.
The girl's brother is among the men who pinned her down, she added. "It's symbolic that he does it with his own hands. It gives him honour in local society, that he has done it for the sake of religion."
Pakistan's North West Frontier Province government ceded authority to the Taliban under a peace deal, giving them almost a free hand to impose their puritan Islamic rule on the around 600,000 people of Swat and its seven neighbouring districts.
The peace accord signed with pro-Taliban cleric Maulana Sufi Mohammad includes measures to establish Islamic courts, a ban on music, expulsion of prostitutes and pimps from the area, closure of businesses during prayer times, and a campaign against what they call obscenity.

I hope Pakistan government make another peace deal that give the entire country to Taliban soon. This is kind of incidents is definitely an indication that indeed the "peace deal" works...!
How about the "tiger like" macho males watching this scene? They don't have any guts or what? Or do they also secretly want this kind of things happen?

lol Agent.. you cursing the whole country? at least she was not burned alive like in India where it is the part of Hindu ritual of Sati where a woman is burned alvie when her husband dies. apparently it is outlawed but familes still do it to get rid of the widow..

Tell Taliban to do that in the next time if it disappoint you that they did not kill her.
Hindu barbarian ritual sati is banned by law in India.It is against the law and people who are conducting it can't escape.In Pakistan a big part of the country is handed over to Islamic terrorists under the law - with a license to do anything. The news says "Outrage over India ritual burning". FYI this ritual is started 700 years ago by Rajputs to avoid rape of their women by the Muslim invaders if the Rajputs defeated by them. Because death was better for women than falling into the hands of fanatic muslims.
The situation in women in hardline Islamic countries are still the same - death would be a bliss comparing to the torture the have to endure.
In the article itself you can read that people involved in this brutality were arrested. What will happen to the terrorists who beat up that Pakistani girl? What is the general opinion? Here is one sample how the public would react.

For the high class hindu stuff, do you know there is something called reservation exist in India? The lower casts are given a certain percentage of everything that is government. Let it be government run education institutions, or jobs - It exists. Ex President of India MR. K.R. Narayanan was a member of lower cast. Indian constitution was written by a member lowercast who is known as the father of Indian constitution - B.R. Ambedkar.
Indian Muslims do get a concession in travel expenses whenever they go to Hajj.India is the only non-muslim country that gives this facility to muslims. What is the situations of minorities in Pakistan?
There is no denial that lot of bad things exist in India. But we are trying to correct that and trying very hard.
What is happening in Pakistan? Rapidly going back to stone age, right?

That is ok, Mayank. Honor of religion is been held high..! The terrorist's version of Islam is shining with this incident. The brother of the girl who held her for beating now would be projected as a new "Islamic" saviour and a "martyr".

Honestly guys.. it is even more hideous and tragic in India, brides are routinely killed for not giving birth to a boy or not bringing enough dowry. And then there is the hideous Indian ritual of Sati where a woman is burned alive.
Not long ago high caste Hindus used to smash the head of a low caste Dalit on the door step of their villas and palaces for “good luck” now it is replaced with breaking of a coconut now these days (thank god).
Apparently this is not even considered terrorism. And then the ritual of Human sacrifice to Kali Godess.. that’s seems to be a favourite Indian past time.. clean up your act India this is 21st century.. one wonders what horrors lie behind the glamour of Bollywood and soft talking Indian call centre operators.

No problem - go ahead and imitate whatever bad things Hindus or Christians or any other religion doing - if that gives you a sense of equality. After all that is what some of the Pakistan aiming at - to become equal to India.

Agent .. how cleverly you steered away the discussion from the indefensible and inhumane Hindu rituals is halarious.. in the beginging you are laughing at the Taliban thuggary and mocking the people of Pakistan in their time of trouble and blaming them and Islam.
but when I highlight the dark side of the Indian faith of Hinduism you smartly turn it back on me saying that I am justifying Taliban's actions because Hindus do it 10 fold worse? I am sorry you are so worng.. I never supported taliban and never will, all I was trying was to show the neutral people f this website the darker side of Hindu faith which you guys so cleverly hide under the media glare of Bolliwood. just admit to your own weaknesses before poking fun at other people of Pakistan and Afghanistan who are just as helpess and victims like any other country which is suffering such atrocity.
if you cant manage a few words of support or concern atleast dont insult the already suffering people.. you belong to a bigger country match your attitude with that as well.

Maybe you will get your answers to this question. In my comments , if you read carefully, you can see that I did not say anything about Islam - the religion. I just mentiond the "version" of Islam this taliban inflict on people. My upbrining taught me that a brother has to protect his sisters (to hell with male chauvinsm and pseudo feminism). Here what that so called "brother" of that girl did to her?
I just expressed my angst on such inhuman incidents. How did you take that as a blame against Islam?
About Pakistna being a small country, sorry I can't do much help on this. Things like these happened long back before my birth...! Your ancestors would have thought about that at the time of partition. Mine were smarter in that department. So we got a big country.. :-))

it's not right to treat half of humanity as though they were chattel. It's wrong and cruel and stupid. But I got worse spankings from my mother when I was a child. The taliban are allowing this video because the "whipping" is so incredibly mild as to give the impression that they're not so very cruel and women overreact. Let them post a stoning some time and maybe that will show how nasty they are.

there are various cruel videos of taliban and we dont need to see any more of this .. Taliban are just religious thugs..
having said that.. Baloch has a point here.. weaker sex, poorer people and lower classes are always suffering in the third word countries irrespective of the religion.. the internet and other media just happens to forget that and is giving more attention to Talibani Islam and loosing the bigger picture of what is Happening in Sirilanka, India, Burma and Arfica as a whole.

the present goverment is a bunch of Liers.. PPP was so desperate to get the goverment that they convinced America that they will go 10 times far as Musharaf dared to go in the fight against the Taliban but in the end they gave Swat away to the militants.. what they really wanted was a goverment and fill up their pockets.
untill now they havent come clean with the general public about their agreement with America. they need to take people into confidence and mobalise a public support for the Amry operations. a consistant awakening of the people by good scholors, clerics and good public speakers using all forms of available media will break the monopoly of the taliban propoganda.

re my optimism.. this approach has worked out in Egypt and Al geria.. the voilent Islamic organisations are totally rejected. their leaders either killed or jailed. Pakistan and Afghanistan havent been that fortunate yet thats why that Egypt reject and an excuse for a human being Al Zwahiri (Al-qaida no.2) came in Afghanistan.

This is disgraceful to watch, taliban are not following islamic law clearly, i am ashamed at them, if they thinking they will go to heaven for actions like this, they need to read the holy book again and correct their interpretations. Its like there following some folk law, this is not shari law or written in the quran, even jesus stopped the beating of a women who committed adultery, this women has done nothing and her brother is a disgrace for holding his sister down. I blame this on poor correct islamic teaching which they have lacked.
