Assam,Aug 20: Preetimoni Saikia, a 15 years old student of 10th standard of Kendriya Vidyalaya Nagaon attempted suicide by setting fire to herself in her residence, located at Kolongpar Kohaligaon in Nagaon district of Assam,India on Thursday evening. The villagers noticed the fire from a distance and rescued Preetimoni in a critical state. She was rushed to Nagaon B.P.Civil Hospital where later she was referred to Guwahati for advance treatment as she was severely burned.
As per her statement made infront of media, she described the reason behind her suicide attempt. She stated that a student named Lakhya of Class XI (Commerce) of the same school was torturing her mentally for a couple of days. On Thursday he assaulted her in the school. She alleged that the boy slapped and beaten her with his waist belt in presence of other students. When she made complaint to teacher, no step was taken against the boy by the school authority. Preetimoni further stated that the boy also threatened of killing her. Despite of her complain, instead of investigating the matter, the school authority played a silent role and paid no interest on the matter as stated by Preetimoni. In agony she set herself to fire.
This incident has raised question among the people that why the school authority didn’t take any step against the boy despite of her complain. If the school administration keeps them away from such matters, this will definitely lead to more incidents in future.

Thats really pathetic of her. Teens should not consider suicide as a solution to end any proble. Keep fighting with the situations. Parents should be blamed for such situations that they have not taken care of their child properly. She will take a hell lot of time to recover from the situation.
