Terri-Lynne McClintic: Father Rod McClintic Speaks Out
Terri-Lynne McClintic, 18, now stands accused of abducting little Tori Stafford and helping Tori's accused killer, her boyfriend Michael Thomas C.S. Rafferty, 28, evade police since the 8-year old went missing April 8, 2009. Micheal Thomas Rafferty has been charged with abduction and first degree murder in the Tori Stafford case. Terri-Lynne McClintic has been charged with abduction and accessory to murder after the fact.
According to Terri-Lynne McClintic's named father Rod McClintic, Terri-Lynne has a questionable maternal history that may have played a role in her willingness to participate in Tori Stafford's abduction and cover up her murder. Rod McClintic is stunned over Terri-Lynne's seemingly callous nature.
Rod McClintic contacted local media when the news broke that the 18-year old girl he still pays child support for was arrested in the abduction and murder of Tori Stafford. Rod McClintic was born and raised in the small town of Woodstock, Ontario, and although he no longer lives there he still feels connected to the community.
When the news broke that Tori Stafford was missing Rod McClintic immediately was drawn to the story about the little girl from his hometown. He never imagined that Terri-Lynne McClintic, the child who carries his name and who he had supported as his own even though he is not her biological father, would be implicated in the horrific crime.
Rod McClintic was married to Terri-Lynne's mother Carol McClintic, who still uses his last name despite the fact that they have been divorced for over a decade. In fact, Rod McClintic says he has not heard from Carol or Terri-Lynne in nearly 12 years even though he pays regular child support.
In what reads like a soap opera plot, Rod McClintic agreed to put his name on the birth certificate of a child that he knew was not his in order to circumvent adoption laws and claim the child as his own. A friend of Carol McClintic, then his wife, had become pregnant by an unknown man and did not want to keep the child. Carol McClinitic wanted the child to raise and the birth certificate fraud seemed the easiest way to make it happen. That child was Terri-Lynne McClintic.
Now Terri-Lynne McClintic stands accused of facilitating the abduction and hiding the subsequent murder of 8-year old Tori Stafford and Rod McClintic has been dragged into the nightmare on a very personal level.
“I’m standing here right now still shaking,” said McClintic in a telephone interview.
The 42-year-old long-haul truck driver, who was born and raised in Woodstock but now lives in Smiths Falls, said he hasn’t heard from Terri-Lynne or her mother, Carol McClintic, for about 12 years.
McClintic said Carol left him when Terri-Lynn was two-years-old. They have since divorced. He is still paying child support.“I was living in Woodstock at the time and Carol was a stripper,” said McClintic.
“A stripper friend of hers was going to have a baby but wanted to get rid of it. Carol said she wanted the baby. So, they put my name down as the birth father and we took the baby. But I wasn’t even there for the conception or the birth.”

It breaks my heart to hear this stuff on the news, just how many others fell prey to these creeps? From Newfoundland to Woodstock and anywhere else he or she has lived.
My heart goes out to the entire family of this innocent little girl, this is truely a parents worst nightmare.

I am adopted, my mother was a crack head had me, and her friends took me in. They were not perfect. But I learned from that to not want to be that, and get my education and not be a stat in society. Terri Lynn had the same choice, she could have looked at her upbringing, and changed it to not be something that I am sure she never wanted to be. Don't give into the easy ways of a bad life cause your mother abused you, and it was a easy way of life. You tune it around. I DO NOT feel any compasion for Terri-lynn, she could have done it. SHe could have changed her path, so for anyone that says god... look at her upbringing of course she had no hope the system failed her. NO you failed the system cause you either get help, and move on from your past finish high school go to college, and be someone, or you weaken and reflect on your life, and think cause your parents are bad you equally are to... 16 and you can legally leave home.... go to a group home get counselling, and get away from those situations. She had a choice, but she choose the wrong one. It does'nt make me feel sorry for her, she helped muder a young innocent girl. She had a choice in aiding in that, and she still did it. I hope now the law does not help her, this is a time where she should rot away for everything she did'nt choose to be!!!

Also... The father can go to court and claim back payment on all the child support he has paid. Neglect is what he has to sue for that Terri was neglected as a child for the essentials in life, and any court who would see her mother would clearly see that Terri was neglected as a child and support payments were not going to where they were suppose to be. I agree anyone can turn there life around in the right situation, they just have to want to. Temptation is hard, when drugs can come so easy, it takes a strong person to shy away from it. Specially being a child whose mother did not care when or if they came home. That just easily puts you in the bad crowd of I can do what I want. But either way I don't condone what TLM did no father bla bla bla look at how many of us are raised now with a single parent and still turn out fine. This girl I think has it out for someone, its sad that it was Tori!!!!

Rod McLintock still pays child support for a child who is not his own, and that's supposed to make him out to be a good guy? He's a good guy because he agreed to falsify an adoption certificate so his stripper girlfriend could have a baby without ruining her figure? He's a good guy because after he lived with this child as his own daughter for two years, he basically trooped off and hasn't done anything in her life for the past 12 years? A cheque is NOT enough to compensate for parenting, particularly when it's pretty obvious that the parent who's keeping the child is not going to be doing a 'good' job either!
This incredibly uninsightful man is quoted as being "stunned over Terri-Lynne's seemingly callous behaviour." Geez, I wonder where she learned it?

I am sorry you feel this way. However, reread the story and other news clipings he states the mother took off with the child. He also states she did not give him any access nor did the mother even allow the grandparents any access. I don't think he is to blame. What I have learned in life is don't be to harsh to judge someone for one day yourself may end up in the eyes of the media and the whole world will be quick to judge truths and lies.

I'm sorry but I have to comment on this subject. For all of those fathers out there who pay child support and don't recieve the the time and support from our ex-partners. This man paid child support for this girl because a judge ordered him too, and a lot of times they'll just garnish your wage without consent. Her mother had no obligation by Canada's Law to keep in contact....so she simply didn't. That's not his fault. This man paid, and he should have the right to be proud about it, so I'm not sure how old you are, not very I expect, but just remember, when you're not in someone else's shoe's it's too easy to criticize.

i dont think i can agree with ur post...the father has nothing to do with this....he is just as shocked as everyone else....u have to remember that terri's mother took her away from the "so called" father when she was just 2 yrs old!....u know some fathers out there do try there best and i tell ya the women just have to be so cunty...i know cuz my fiance has the same issue, his ex is a complete bi#tch!..she wants control and thats all....and in this case that is prolly what happened!..Rod probably was not allowed to see Terri...so i dont believe that we can blame or point fingers at anyone here!
at 09:04 on May 28th, 2009
That's why you don't shack up with strippers...because they are already dead inside.
The poor father was a chump and paid a heavy price for some crackwhore poontang.

Who gives a damn about this woman's childhood? Are we already making excuses about why she did what she did? I'm already reading artilcles about how she came from a broken home, Daddy was never there...blah blah blah.....
at 08:06 on May 21st, 2009
C'mon, it is heart-breaking. What does she (McClintic) know, was she suppose to raise herself and develop strong values and morals all on her own? I'm not in any way condoning what she did, but my gawd, the girl (McClintic) didn't stand a chance. It all started with the way she was brought into this world and what she has seen in the short time she has been alive.
She should be punished for her crime based only on the facts of the offense, but I think that if she came from a loving home, one where she was taught that for every action there is a consequence something like this wouldn't have happened.
I don't agree with blaming everyone and their dog for a person's misfortunes in life, there is a basic knowledge of what's right and wrong, but there is obviously a connection between her upbringing and her moral standard.
We're going to hell in a handbasket and have no one to blame but ourselves.
at 15:22 on May 21st, 2009
I agree with you 100%. There is absolutely no excuse for a horric, unimaginable thing like tihs. There are lots of people who've grown up in worse situations.
at 20:40 on May 22nd, 2009
Exactly !!!!!!!! I know people who were raised by one parent, in abussive homes, molested, the list goes on....and none of them are child abductors or murderers. Hello !!!!! Talk about making excuses for your stupid decisions. This bitch shouldn't even have a chance to make any excuses. Everyone who kills should be judged in the same way. No excuses !!!!!!

Terri-Lynne sounds like she should have been an abortion!!! Too bad she made it to the age of 18 and now has taken another life - the life of an innocent child, TORI.
I hope they make Terri-Lynne someone's B*T*H in jail, because that's the worst she is going to get in Canada. Pathetic! A guy can cut the head off an innocent man in a bus, and today he is in Selkirk Mental Inst. eating bon-bons and watching Oprah - Lovely eh! What the hell is this World coming to.
If this ever happened to my family or child, I would kill that person myself - with no regrets. Maybe more of us should start taking these issues into our own hands, so that they will change the laws and give harder and more severe sentences.

I agree maybe people need to form a real deathsquad to deal with these scofflaws.Real justice for a change

Terry Lynn IS the baby that Doctor Morgentaler was talking about when he talked about preventing crimes by providing poor women with his abortion services....

While a degree of defensiveness is understandable, this guy has been all over the news telling anybody that would listen that he's got nothing to do with this girl. We get that. It's nothing to be bragging about, Rod.
at 15:06 on May 21st, 2009
I understand that everyone has differing opinions, the reality is a little girl is dead and at the hands of two adults. If I try to understand Ms. Mclintic, I would have to say, yes she led a horrible life, however, please don't tell me no one saw this. So those of you who knew and sit and criticize...including Rod are guilty of neglect and in my eyes abuse. You let an emotionally unavailable woman attempt to raise a child. If we are not part of the solution, we are part of the problem. When a child is being abused and you know it, you are already involved...stop being cowards and allowing the cycle of messed up adults to continue. Promote self-esteem, values and morals...don't snub your nose and pretend you didn't see it.
As for the arsehole 28 year old boyfriend...well first of all didn't anyone think something was off when a 28 year old is interested in an 18 year old girl...Peter Pan Syndrome, secondly he's on the brink of being a pedophile...less 2 more years and there you are. Which with the natural progression of his distorted and demented mind...leads to poor little Tori.
I agree Canada needs to have harsher laws, we got to stop being so God D@&n passive. What does it take for the Canadian government to speak up? Perhaps with ask a landed immigrant to put in a petition maybe they'll listen and start doing something.

laws wont help, some people are just fucking insane sick in the head

If laws were harsher, then those fucked up sick heads wouldn't be around. Can u say death penalty???????????

I am questioning why Terri-Lynn McClintic's upbringing seems to be of foremost interest these days in the media, rather than her role in abducting and possibly killing Victoria Stafford. Many people have difficult childhoods and unfortunate circumstances - most do not go on to become child killers. Terri-Lynn McClintic had choices and she chose to abduct an innocent eight year old child to give to her boyfriend as a 'prize' to be used and then murdered. She is evil, and reminiscent of Karla Homolka in her crimes against children. Michael Rafferty is another sicko and hopefully they will lock him some place where he rots 24/7. Too bad we tax payers have to fit the bill though for scourge like them. In the mean time, how do you reconcile something like this within a family? The obvious answer is, you don't. I was out today in the sunshine, I saw families happily playing together and I felt sick at heart to think of Tori's family being shattered like this. The very thought of something happening to your children sends tremors throughout every parent. But the idea of them being a victim of a heinous, brutal crime is unbearable. What must that little girl have suffered at the hands of those two monsters? Did she cry to see her mom and dad and brother? Did McClintic or Rafferty show her any human compassion or conscience? No they did not. So I do not want to hear about their 'troubled' lives. You do not get to that stage of pathology simply by having a rough childhood. There is something inherently wrong with the way you are wired when you abduct, rape and murder a child. I hope that they find Tori's body soon so that she may be buried with the dignity and respect she deserves. As horrible as this sounds, I would want to know what happened to my child... even if it was the worst scenario. I could not live in limbo like the parents of missing Madeleine McCann in Britain who vanished without a trace. Perhaps Tori's family will be able to grieve properly now and know that the people who took their daughter from them will be punished.

I aggree with you 100% . Who gives a flying fuck about how hard Terri-Lynn McClintic had it. She is a shitbag and as far as I am concerned she should get just as much time as her shitbag boyfriend Rafferty. After all that sweet innocent little angel would still be alive right now if it wasn't for Terri-Lynn McClintic louring poor Victoria to that Cowardly Snake in the first place.

The reason for the info into personal background history is to show that she was fully aware of the reasoning in doing this crime. Also it shows weither or not she has any previous history of violence and therefore can strangthen the case for trial to show that she is a person who can and will commite such crimes and also it has a ruling on how much time she will receive and if she should be able for parole or does she fall under the repeated offenders act which can show that she is and will be a continued danger to society! This is why the importance of her back ground history is calculated. The more a person displays a lack of empathy towards people and violence the harder it is to prove that she was or did not have anything to do with this case at all before or after! Verifying that she was and could be a repeated offender of violence who deminstrate a lack of caring or empathy which would be hard to prove that she had compassion. Which i am sure will play a large part in the courts and will have ppl who knew her verify exactly what type of person she really was and is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

We haven't even heard the accused speak up yet. How do we know for sure they are guilty? We only know what the police have told us. Fact, the body has not been found yet.
at 08:21 on May 22nd, 2009
It's disgusting that the media is focusing on her bad childhood, it's no wonder why many criminals try to use it to a light sentence. It's sad that she had an awful childhood but it's give her a free past to commit a crime especially one as vile as kidnapping and helping to end the life of an innocent defenseless child.
LOLA Cantagonna, the guy who beheaded an innocent man in a bus, likely would have gotten the same sentence if it had been in US where laws are harsher because of his servere mental illness. Canada isn't the only country where the law considers mentally ill people not responsable for their actions, it's probaby just the only country that protects mentally ill murderers but threw a man who had a mental illness that made him convinced that his family had been replaced with imposters in jail for years for harrassing his wife even though she wanted him in a mental hospital.

U know.........I didn't have the best parents in the world but when u get to a certain age, u have to start thinking for urself dispite how badly u've been treated. U have a brain so that u can use it to think with. Everyone knows that right is right and wrong is wrong. I'm sure u all would agree that killing someone would be in the wrong category. So therefore, I don't give a flying fuck about this Terri or Carol or Rod or how crazy their lives were blah blah blah. Murder is murder. Whether ur screwed in the head or not. It's still murder. I feel sorry for Tori's mom who's been falsely accused of such a horrendous act. I'm a mom and the thought of losing my child is inconcievable to me. I don't know if I could even live let alone be accused for the disappearance of my child. People r so cruel. It's too bad that people get so influenced by the media that they forget to think for themselves.

You can sue for back support on the child, as per neglect through the years you have diligently paid support!!!When you pay child support, the child is to recieve the payement for essentials in there lives. Clearly if a court were to view the parties involved TLM mother, they could clearly see the payment was not fully towards TLM and her essentials. It was said she was already in jail prior... the mother was a former stripper, and now has no pension clearly and most likely claims disability.... If I were TLM father I would sue get yourself a good laywer and given the situation, good guy or not. You had no rights, when you should have, and still paid for a daughter that is sick and full of sickness. No one should ever have to pay for someone that murders, and a mother who is too messed up to see that. The mother could not care and abused her from her horrific life as a child. That is not your responisibily now.
