Ok all you patriotic junkies whip out your big American flags and prop them up in the back of your pickup trucks in support for going to war against Gustav the hurricane. Hurricanes must be the biggest terrorists around yet no Hurricane Patriot Act or Hurricane Homeland Security Act is made to stop hurricanes.

Think of the damage that happens during a hurricane, and the size area it inflicts its terrorist arsenal winds upon, including flooding and a gammet of chain reactions that occurs. Never mind the guy or the people who are stranded and see a store with bottled water inside floating in the debris are then shot at because they are now accused of being looters.

Yet in this time of anticipation from the Katrina Attack it seems the Republican administration is playing a different tune, by canceling the Republican Convention in Minnesota. John McCain says now is not a time to be festive...and President Bush is actually doing something to help people cope with the Gustav onslaught.

Are we able to retaliate and find justice to the terror that these acts of God commit? Absolutly not. Do we consider our self cowards by evacuating and taking cover? Absolutley not. Do we then rile the people as being for us or against us in fighting hurricanes? Absolutely not. Seems to me hurricanes have a very similar face to the description of wars and bombings....and so we think we can stop terrorists in other countries, by killing their innocent people. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080901/wl_nm/afghan_civilians_dc

Yet the people around the world know it was not an act of God that invaded their land blaming their leader and stealing their oil.

In my honest estimation think of the 4,000 extra alive troops we would have today in helping the people cope with this current hurricane disaster waiting to happen, if we didn't invade Iraq. Think if our leadership stopped and realized that just because we are attacked does not mean we go ballistic and spend billions of dollars to wage war.......as if trying to stop a hurricane. Frankly it is rather impossible. Frankly comparing going to WAR is actually the same as comparing it to fighting a hurricane. Might as well throw money and lives to the wind in such an ignorant attempt. So is the world safer now with Saddam out of the way? Some way it doesn't seem so, because more oil will hit the market which means more Global Warming and more hurricanes we can't preemptively strike first. I wonder when when the Saddam Hurricane will hit?

Just what are cowards? Those who stand there with a gun pointing at the hurrincane winds/war winds while firing saying "bring it on"....I will kill you.... you %#* ;terrorists...In the mean time good people lose their lives and the terror continues because the coward was too foolish to realize there is nothing he can do execept flee and wait out the storm, then help us all recover.

Let's stop the foolishness in Iraq bring the military home, and help in our recovery. It will give Iraqis their home back, and we don't need their oil because of Global Warming. Now that would be the beginning of a kind and gentler nation.

djermano, I like this story. New style, well the Hurricane backfires. Global warming surface ocean water up from 25°C to 27°C;  triggers the Hurricane build up, doubles the amount, doubles the range. Before only Florida, now since 3 years Hurricanes go more and more north. I am sorry for the poor people who have to "steel" a bottle of water. America must rethink it's carbon footprint, before the first start to ask for visas for Canada. As you mention, no army can fight the people back in their homes. No great investment was done under Bush to Homesecure, what a word, New Orleans, they gave it up, only black people, look for a place at Dubai, Paraguay, the Bush family will receive you.

Thanks Solarlife and Paschen for the flags. Republicans think they are doing something for us by fighting for Oil rights in foreign countries and now in Alaska! They are going about helping people the wrong way. People should live close to their jobs so they can walk to work. Stop the mass car production of cars that burn gas....Really this whole war on terror boils down to the car..

Better to change driving habits and work habits that rely on less gas, and less cars, which would clean up the air, reduce traffic jams, and conserve fuel, than to spend billions from bigger and mightier hurricanes that get their energy punch from the warmed planet caused by car emissions.

We are hero's to fight a war to keep the car on the road, but we are cowards for not wanting to support the car lobby in order to save the billions it costs for rebuilding after a hurricane.

Tell me what good was it to rebuild after Katrina 3 years ago, when Gustav will undo all the economic work that has been accomplished since then? It just makes no sense. It is pathetic. Work like a dog,, to have everything thrown back into ruin. The people who run government don't try to use their 6th sense in knowing that the war they wage in Iraq, is being repaid in kind. With the massive debt for that military campaign and its continued hemorraging, and with the billions it took to rebuild from Katrina, to have Gustav destroy it all over again, along with the economic meltdown in the housing markets and the increase to the unemployed...it just looks more and more like the proverbial kicking the bucket of an empire. What better message from God to have a hurricane halt the Republican Convention...but do we think they are listening? Maybe?

djermano, I like this story, interesting slant.

The true problem is that people deserve the governments they have we the citizens of the world have been fooled into believing that governments and leaders are working on our behalf.

Who is the unelected people running our lifes on this planet? Greedy power crazy capitalist at present its geared to oil, gas and weopons tomorrow year when oil and gas are frazed out it will be something else but weopons and ammunition's will never go out of fashion.

We the people can never win, as our fellow man will always gullible and will send the sons and daughters to war on behalf of the giant corporations. Government systems have been rigged by the ancestors of those in power into days America. Plato see the problems of governments systems and how easy they can be corrupted especially the US system styled on ancient Greece and Rome.

If there is a God it would take more than a Hurricane to put the USA's governing system right or to punish those that have caused and are causing big time trouble in this World of ours. Money is truthfully the root of all evil.

How many more innocent lives are going to be destroyed or lost in the name of oil, greed and making some extra bucks on WMD or bullets and bombs to kill children?

Who you vote for in this coming election will never be representing you, just themselves and those that pull the strings.
