Terrorist attack was 'performance art', UDA man Stone tells court
When notorious UDA terrorist Michael Stone forced his way into Stormont with explosives and a garrotte he was arrested and charged with attempting to murder Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness. In court today he claimed that it was not a terror attack but a piece of performance art. What next? The twin towers was a piece of performance art by Usama Bin Laden? I can't see it myself.
Michael Stone plead the "liberal art school jackass" defense to his 2006 storming of Northern Ireland's Parliament with a fake gun and bomb attached to his body. He is charged with trying to kill Sinn Fein leadership, including Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness.
"Rather than trying to wreck the peace process, Stone said he had been trying to help the peace process by staging an art-based protest at the political deadlock that existed at the time."
Michael Stone is a convicted triple murderer, so it makes total sense that the guy would claim he was trying to "destroy the iconography of Michael Stone, loyalist hero." See, he was just having a goof! Just looking for a fresh start as a "comedic parody" of his former self/"eccentric artist that got it wrong in performance art" rather than a guy who killed three people at an IRA funeral.
53-year-old Stone faces charges of attempting to murder Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness and is also charged with possession of explosives and a garrotte.
In court today, he said when he forced his way into Stormont in October 2006, it was an act of performance art and self parody to try and break the political log jam.

LotusFlower, I like this story. It's good stuff.
I flagged it only because the guy had the industrial size cajones to give such a lame excuse lol
