The terrorist owned airstrip and two hangars in Sri Lanka

The pictures below show the extent to which a terrorist outfit can develop itself when the world remains ignorant of the true nature of such monstrous organizations. Mislead by false propaganda elements by front organizations of the LTTE and its proxy NGOs, world has let the LTTE to be the first terrorist organization to have an air arm. Not to forget that it is the same organization that has pioneered the art of suicide bombing, and suicide naval craft. There is no doubt that the LTTE and its fund raising mechanism spread across the globe has made a great contribution to the global terrorism in terms of knowledge and other means.

Here is the fourth and the largest airstrip ever captured by Sri Lanka Army. There is a great possibility that it may be the only one of that kind owned by any terrorist organization in the world.

Troops of Army 59 Division lead by Brigadier Nandana Udawatte captured the airstrip on Saturday (Jan 10) after crushing stiff terrorist resistance. It is located in thick Mullaittivu jungle, about 5km west of Nanthikandal lagoon.

Infantrymen of 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) led by Lieutenant Colonel Janaka Ariyaratne were the first to enter in the airstrip. The airstrip is built with a tarmac about 1.5 km long and 100m wide. The area was heavily guarded by the terrorists with a barb wired fence built in a 300m distance around the air stripe . The two armour plated hangers and several other huts were also found.

LTTE is at its weakest right now, that is in military capability and performance. Yet has it been defeated in prpopaganda and its heavy resources of friendly forces which helped nurture this serpent? I think not. In Sri Lanka, various NGOs, activists, media freedom fighters are to name a few who helped nurture this curse over the years. That may be why Sri Lankan public are disgusted with all forms of 'media freedom fighters' and various 'activists' in general, although there are many who don't fall into this category.

LTTE is still strong in its propaganda work, proved it well with the Sirasa TV station attack and Lasantha murder incidents. While all 'media freedom fighters' shout and point the finger at the government, the Sri Lankan general public are of a different view. Does public opinion get into these news channels? No. Hardly. This is my effort at showing the world the other side of Sri Lankan politics, and to point out the fact that there are so many organizations and individuals who earn a living out of 'fighting for freedom' in Sri Lanka. At least, that is what the public believe. I speak for myself, and all the non important people in Sri Lanka I know.

Sunanda Deshapriya resigns from CPA over ‘transaction lacking clarity’

Friday, 19 December 2008

FMM also investigating ‘shady deals’ of media rights czar

Sunanda Deshapriya, a long time activist in the sphere of media rights and former convenor of the 'Free Media Movement' (FMM) has resigned from his post at the Centre for Policy Alternatives (CPA) whose media section he headed, following an investigation into a transaction that ‘lacked clarity’, Dr. Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu, Executive Director, CPA told www.news.lk today (19).

It was alleged earlier in the website www.lankaenews.com that Deshapriya had been ‘sacked’.  A news story posted on the website today at 10.15 am under the title "Gindara Kae Sunanda Deshapriya Anguru Vamaarai" (Sunanda Deshapriya, having swallowed fire, is vomiting charcoal), maintained that the rights advocate has perpetrated fraud running into millions of rupees and that he had been asked to leave the CPA after it was proved subsequent to an investigation that he had indeed defrauded the organization of a sum amounting to several hundred thousand rupees in his final transaction.

Dr. Saranvanamuttu, however, said that there had been an investigation which revealed that Deshapriya was involved in a transaction that lacked clarity. He said that Deshapriya had paid back the relevant amount to the CPA and tendered his resignation.

The lankaenews website alleges that the President and Secretary of the Working Journalists' Association were also implicated in this fraud.  Apparently, Deshapriya, along with these two, had been obtaining funds fraudulently from a special fund set up for the security of media personnel with support from international organizations.  Payments from this account have since been stopped, it was reported.

Meanwhile, the FMM has initiated a separate inquiry into all transactions Deshapriya has been associated with during the time he was the convener of that organization.  It is alleged that the investigation is being hampered by the fact that there are no audited accounts of that period.

It is sad.
But I cannot help but be amused at this latest ebay stunt :)

Suggestion:
Why don't they offer the bidder a chance to go and speak to all the civilians in one place (wherever they are kept under them) at the same time instead of speaking to this one selected individual? No need of giving 24 hrs, just 10 mnts to speak to everyone. Oh, do not forget to include all of the suffering mothers and fathers who still have not been able to forget their precious children. (abducted and lost)
(Please note, i'm not being serious)

Some things to note:

"The main reason for this depletion is the ban on media by the Sri Lankan government to enter the conflict zone."
- Most private TV stations in Sri Lanka have been reporting the ongoing war for a long time, with their journalists reporting from the frontlines. There is daily coverage by these media stations.

"less than ten bombing missions using rudimentary air crafts by tamil forces."
- Please do not dishonor the respectable, innocent, suffering, peace loving Tamil citizens of Sri Lanka by using the term 'tamil forces' for barbaric Prabhakaran's forces, who do not care about the suffering or the future of people in North and East.

Got only one question >

Late Foreign Minister Lakshman Kadirgamar - dearly loved and missed by all Sri Lankans, wasn't he an innocent Tamil person? What was his crime?
