NP Rank:
In Texas fields, no poppies blow; "forgotten" Canadians and Britons
The real story here is in my video. Please note the AVI version is better quality, but could be slow in loading and hang up during playback.
World War I Royal Flying Corps officers and men came to Texas for flight training. However, many came only to die and never return home to Canada or the UK.
This video is about eleven of those men. I visited their graves on Remembrance Sunday, and was in for a surprise.
My mother says in World War II, a Canadian cousin ( a real cousin by blood) came to Fort Worth for flight training. He then went to Liberal, Kansas, for advanced training and was lost in a crash. My mother says the kids in the family first suspected Nazi sabotage, but eventually blamed the government. Wayne washed out of pilot school and became a navigator. Mother says the kids decided it was the government's failure to make Wayne a pilot that cost his life and the lives of his crew. Not sure which government she meant.
The graves in the video are at Greenwood Cemetery. Every other year, the cemetery hosts a commemoration at the site on Memorial Day, the American holiday honoring war dead.

I am really sorry I missed this Post and read it only now, the video is great and reflects much of the reality of the way this day of November the 11th is being doubt with today. I am personally not a fan of glorifying wars nor making war heroes, however even I respect the fallen Soldiers and remember those that served in good faith and with honour only after the war so many realized what war actually meant, well only those that survived it and could tell about it. Many could never speak of the horrors they would have to face.
In war they are no winners only looser for we all lose our soul there and never recover from it. Those that still believe in War as a solution or a glorifying have no idea what so ever what war really is and means.
It is difficult to teach any one what war means since it is so difficult to even talk about it honestly and openly, for it does steel our souls andĀ innocenceĀ and make us guilty of breaking all commends. Great Post dunkelberg and excellent Video as well. Thank you. Sorry I missed it until Johnny send me a mail about it.
