NP Rank:
TEXAS - Major networks call it for Clinton and
I agree. I think her gains in the conventions will hold up as I look at the map and see where the limited results are coming in.it holds.
With 68% of the vote in, Clinton holds a lead and more than likely will more than maintain it in the precinct convention results.
TEXAS - First Convention results in...
The initial results change nothing, and (darnit) do not prove my speculation about Clinton hanging onto her lead with precinct conventions.
Without doing the math (see Politisite), it is breaking about even.
However, there are two caveats. These are informal results phoned in. Also, these are not complete results for the senatorial districts reporting.
My head hurts.
UPDATE - Here's where things are hanging.
The Texas Secretary of State's Office reports that Harris County, home to Houston, only has 17 of 875 precincts reporting. In Dallas, 248 out of 695 are in. San Antonio's Bexar County 347 of 623 are in while at the state capital Austin, Travis County 165 out of 211 are in and we have the following with a turnout in that county of almot 30%. In Austin, Clinton has 34.36% and Obama at 64.97%.
Obama, Clinton still too close to call BUT
Sorry planning and preparation (as well as swamped polls) kept my precinct convention hung waiting on people until almost 10:30 PM CST.
Excuse me a moment.....
BLOODY PRECINCT CONVENTIONS!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, I'm back.
Major urban cities still are out. Still very close. I see the latest on Politisite has Clinton 50% and Obama 48%,
Clinton's people were murder at the princinct convention, even though their stratgy manual was leaked in the hours running up to the convention. My precinct is a diehard GOP area. There is not a color that is red enough for it. However, Clinton had people there ready to control the conventions and they did.
So, Obama still has some heavy support areas in urban areas yet to report. If Clinton's organization was as good statewide as it was where I was, she might be able to hold on to that lead.
Problem is that delegate selection from the precinct convention now goes to the county or district level and then to state. You can get an idea by the percentage from the precinct conventions.
As of 22:00 CST (04:00 GMT), the Texas Democratic Party had not reported ANY precinct convention results.
Heck, our precinct's primary votes did not head to the courthouse for counting until almost 22:30 CST.
More later.
