Text message saves plane crash pair
Five people died in a plane crash in Canada, but two survivors were rescued hours after search teams received text messages which lead them to the crash site.
Lieutenant Commander Gerry Pash of the Victoria Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre said one of the survivors was injured and the other was in good condition.
The names of the victims were not released.
The plane belonged to Pacific Coastal Airlines and was on a 30-minute flight between Port Hardy and Chamiss Bay. It went down 10 minutes into the flight outside Port Hardy just after 7am on Sunday.
B.C. plane crashed and burned: survivor
A fire broke out aboard a plane after it crashed Sunday on northern Vancouver Island. The pilot and four of six passengers were killed, a survivor said Monday.
Bob Pomponio was one of the passengers who survived the crash of the chartered Pacific Coastal Airlines' Grumman Goose amphibious aircraft , which went down shortly after taking off from Port Hardy, B.C., at about 7 a.m. PT Sunday.
His brother-in-law, Martin Young, told reporters Monday that Pomponio suffered soft-tissue injuries in the crash.
Police said they believe the plane's engine may be at fault in the crash.

sweet east pearl, I like this story. It's good stuff. Saved by text messaging. But Pomponio, who had to climb a hill to get a signal, says, while trying to send the message, he received two ads from Telus. Well really.
