Early Sunday, Thailand's Parliament held an emergency session at the request of the prime minister. Officials in Thailand say that the prime minister has acknowledged that the anti-government protests are spiraling out of control.

"I will not bow. I will not step down and I will not resign — despite the pressure mounting on my government," Samak said during his weekly television program before Parliament convened. "Since the government cannot resolve the problem ... the joint session of Parliament is the best choice for finding a solution."

The organizer of the protests is a group known as the People's Alliance for Democracy, that accuses Prime Minister Samak's government of corruption and as serving a puppet figure for ex-Prime Minister Shinawatra. The ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was deposed in a 2006 coup and banned from public office until 2012.

"I will not give in and resign as demanded by the protesters led by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD). I will carry on with my duties for the benefit of the nation," said Samak
Protesters say that Western-style democracy has allowed corruption to flourish and they want a new government with a parliament in which most of the lawmakers are appointed and only 30 percent elected.

Protestors have been camped inside and outside of the government's headquarters, known as Government House, since Tuesday. The six parties that are led by People Power Party (PPP) has vowed to remain united and carry on its duties as protests continued.Officials say that the emergency session was called to address the current political situation in Thailand and to hopefully find a solution.

Military officials in Thailand have said that they will not use force in the confrontation between the government and protestors.

Thanks for the responses! Paschen, I don't think that the Thai government would do something so crazy to the protesters when they are in the international spotlight.
