They Know Not What They Do

It has become more apparent each day that for the past 35 years now our elected officials in Washington and for that matter too in State Houses all across the country enact legislation which is so contrary to basic reasoning and logic it really is pathetic. This while millions of Americans are hopelessly trapped wallowing in desperation hoping for better times to come. The reality of which has endangered the basic concepts of what our founding fathers envisioned of this country.

With the current Executive orders just issued concerning the 2nd amendment though is a step in the right direction but still falls way short of solving one of the most endeared amendments to the Constitution. We must all realize when our founding fathers penned the 2nd amendment in the Bill of Rights to augment the Constitution it was for the specific purpose for citizens in a militia to guard against tyranny of radical rule of government. Today with so many displaced concepts toward the Constitution there continues to be those who misconstrue amendments and the Constitution, particularly the 2nd, the right to bear arms and twist it's original concept to serve self-serving ideologies. So what is happening today many of our elected officials and those ranking members of special interest groups, in this case the NRA, have taken the second amendment most too literally.

The unequivocal "Right" to own any and all types of armaments is a justification that any infringement on that "Right" is a blatant attack of our constitution. What they fail to consider is like that opening to the Declaration Of Independence "When in the course of human events" the evolution of American society from when the 2nd amendment was ratified has now put the right to bear arms in the forefront of debate. This is something to really think about since all the recent tragedies that have occurred is when that right infringes on the safety and health of our society we are all in harms way because of it. When a right infringes on the overall safety of a society that right is no longer justified as a right. It now has to become a privilege much like drivers licensees are today.

We must also realize that technology has created so many capabilities of self and mass destruction that the right to own any type of arsenal of means of mass destruction is not an inherit right at all. Much like our Supreme court when they interpret the validity of legislation in relation to the compatibility of the Constitution. There are those who likewise interpret the Constitution to serve their own self interests and impose their interpretations on the rest of us. When that happens like they are doing now with legislation using the 2nd amendment as justification to impose their ideology, society looses.

We have seen it all too many times before. Not only with coming legislation with personal interpretations of the 2nd amendment but with legislation that averted the "fiscal cliff," the new regulations banks now use to issue mortgage loans, and so many more pieces of legislation that only keeps the majority of Americans despondent. Speaking of being despondent, some facts to consider that show why our illustrious legislators really don't know what they have done and continue to do to the American public, the public in which they are sworn to serve.

#1 The U.S. economy continues to trade good paying jobs for low paying jobs. 60% of the jobs lost in just the last four years were those middle income jobs, but over 75% of the jobs now being created are now low or poverty wage jobs.

#2 80% of all Americans are now living paycheck to paycheck. That's if they are lucky enough to find one of those low paying jobs.

#3 Total U.S. household debt grew from just 1.4 trillion dollars in 1980 to over 13.7 trillion dollars in 2007. Today's figures are only getting larger.

#4 The number of Americans now living in poverty has increased by more than 20 million since 2000.

#5 Over 110 million Americans still have no job at all in America today.

#6 The recent "fiscal cliff" deal will raise taxes more on those whose incomes of $25,000 and $100,000 than those whose income are higher.

#7 The actual unemployment rate for Americans in the 18 to 30 year-old age bracket is over 12%. For African-Americans in that same age bracket is now toping 25%. It is no wonder that millions in America believe that our whole system has totally failed them. The unemployment figures are only getting worse contrary to what our "Wizards" in Washington keep touting.

#8 While debt loads for families keep going up the net worth for families keeps going down. The medium net worth of families in the United States declined from $126,000 in 2007 to under $70,000 in 2010 and is still declining.

#9 Since 2000, U.S. multinational corporations have eliminated over 3 million jobs in the United States while adding 2.6 million jobs overseas. If current trends continue and all signs point that more of the same an additional 40 million jobs will be sent offshore in the next 10 years.

#10 Today the United States actually has a higher percentage of workers now doing low wage work than any other industrialized nation in the world today.

#11 The United States is still loosing more than 500,000 jobs to China alone every single year.

#12 Over 60% of all American children live in a home that is considered to be poor or low income. And, for the first time ever over 1 million public school students in the United States are homeless.

#13 Today's corporate profits are at all time highs while wages for rank and file employees are at all time lows.

#14 Over 50% of all Americans are now considered living in poverty

#15 The United States now ranks 93rd in the world in income inequality.

# 16 the typical average CEO now makes over 350 times as much as the average American worker now takes home.

#17 The top 1% of Americans have a greater net worth than 90% of the population.

#18 Today, over 50% of all Americans have less that $500 in savings.

#19 As the middle class has all but disappeared more Americans than ever have been forced to become dependent of the federal government. Federal spending on welfare programs has reached over a trillion dollars a year, and that does not even cover Social Security of Medicare. Welfare spending is now 16 times larger than when the "war of poverty" began back in the 1960's.

#20 Last year over 55% of all U.S. collage graduates were either unemployed or under employed.

These 20 facts and there are more that highlight the ineffectiveness that our elected officials continue to showcase that they really don't know what they continue to do in the legislation that has been passed, and what is proposed. It is time that the American public realizes that our own government has become so consumed with their own ideologies and party loyalties that they continue to fail the American public. The second amendment debate and the rest of all those executive orders though some are needed have done not one thing to alleviate the growing number of Americans who have really lost faith with a government. A government that is supposed to help secure opportunities for the public so that they will have the availability and capabilities of attaining a better quality of life.

The only way to remedy our current crises and discontinue the path we are headed is through the implementation of total National Economic Reform and it's Ten Articles of Confederation. It is time we the people take corrective action and hold our elected officials accountable for the disservice they have shown through the legislation that continues to undermine the stability, safety and security of this once great nation.
