Thomas Fritz: Murder Suspect Sex Offender Found Dead
Thomas Fritz: Suspect in Michigan Sisters Murders
Thomas Fritz, the suspect in the murders of Amy Merrill and Lisa Gritzmaker, has been found dead in an apparent suicide.
Amy Merill, 33 and a mother of three, was Thomas Fritz' ex-girlfriend. Her sister Lisa Gritzmaker, 24, was eight months pregnant when the two were shot to death in their Blissfield, Michigan home. Their mother, Robin Lynn McCowan, was also wounded in the attack.
Amy Merill and Thomas Fritz, who share an infant son, broke up a few weeks ago, having moved in together late last year.
Having served with the Ohio National Guard and the Army Reserve, Fritz spent nearly a year in Iraq with the National Guard's military police unit from 2003 through 2004.
Thomas Fritz had to register as a sex offender after a 2006 sexual battery conviction. Fritz had been sought by police since July 13. His body was found in a remote cabin in Sistersville, West Virginia. Fritz apparently shot himself as US Marshals were approaching the cabin.
