Thousands expected to light up outside Vancouver library for Pot

I forgot all about this happening today! I'm so glad I'm not downtown today to be honest, I don't like this stuff and can't stand the smell.

You have to read our media to fully grasp what is going on here Spydermonkey, Pot is big business here and ill gotten gains of this and other drugs built this city, where do you think the money comes from? A Bank? No offshore accounts, we have at least one murder a month sometime  3 and 4 a month directly attributed to the marijuana trade, read our papers, better yet talk to people from Now Public who live here, they will tell you, or better yet google Barry Artiste -Drug-Crime and be prepared for an eye opener on what is going on in this city,  Thanks for the comments though

Pot is not the problem in the DTES.  You, of all people, know that so let's not confuse the issue.

I sure do not understand people. If something bad happens how can anyone think what to do? Heart attack, fire, robbery...any day something could happen....and people want to be high and drunk... People really don't care about each other do they Barry. They are insane, irrational, ignorant....irresponsible....... potheads.

HAHA, thanks Car for the comments, hilarious, I guess my point being is Vangroovians are so hypocritical when on one hand they wrap themselves in the HealthCare belief Bandwagon of banning all trans fats from Restaurants or banning junk food in schools, better yet not these Tw*t for brains want restaurants and food establishments to have Telephone Book size Menus for each customer in order for consumers to know each and every ingredient, calorie and additive in their meal they are ordering. Now how is that for Insanity. Better yet, guess no one heard fire and ambulance were at the festivities, apparently some of the stoners were not watching where they were walking across the street in traffic, guess who pays Mr. Groovys hospital bill, We do! 
Health officials raise the roof over everything we put into our bodies, and pandering politicans and bandwaggon public swallow it hook line and sinker, yet when thousands can amass to get wasted apparently thats okay.

Worst case scenario , Imagine if a stoner gets behind the wheel at this sanctioned event and kills a man, woman or  child as he is driving down the street,  Imagine if it were your family killed, somehow puts things in perspective now doesn't it?

Many say legalize marijuana and the drug trade here would dry up, no more drug related murders and gangs. Ohh what a friggin pipe dream, they would just move on to other illegal activities. It is just marijuana is cheap to make, sell and trade for weapons.  Now who ever said Marijuana is a harmless drug, never had to work the DTES beat. I did notice however DTES at Main and Hastings was drastically less populated around 5pm wonder where they all went?  Job shopping and preparing their resumes I presume?

I had a interesting discussion with a 8-10 year old boy the other day about "gate way drugs"

Later as I was thinking about it more, a drug like nicotine or pot is only a "gate way" because it gets you in touch with the dealers of illegal drugs.

So, if pot was legal and only (or primarily) sold in licensed stores, the average person would not then have easy access to harder drugs, thus removing the temptation and pushing the illegal dealers farther away from the "main stream people"

Lets not forget the tax revanure that legal pot would generate & the corisponding reduction in prison populations.  A large part of the prison & jail population is incarserated for minor drug offences... (& I won't harp on that point!)

Yeah right............YOU can use that excuse for heroin and crack too.. So instead of Prisons you suggest people roaming around in a mind altered state! If I had my way I would ban McDonalds too.....Fat Lards.

The addicts openly use every day in Vancouver.  They don't need a spacial day they just need drugs.  And the worst area is only 2 blocks from the tourist area.

How does nicotine get young people in touch with drug dealers?  last I checked it only got you in touch with store owners and cashiers.

I won't shut up.... life is to short to let drugs mess you up... You want us to all be pot heads? How about a doctor pot head...doing an operation on you in the hospital? How about a pot head cop....shoots you because you wouldn't sell him the bag he wanted? Later said you were just a drug dealer.    think about it..pot head.

Ya.  You are right.  I would rather have a doctor high on pot than one that just drank a bottle of Jack Daniels any day.

if your not 18-19 then to get tobacco you would have to get "someone" to buy it for you,  It isn't the drug that gets them introduced to people that will commit crimes, but the search for it that introduces youngsters to a "dealer" or someone that will ignore the law. . . .

I know it's not as strong an argument as can be made with pot, but I think the same mental process goes on.
