Three Bomb Blasts in Mumbai 17 dead, 131 injured, photos & videos
Three bombs have exploded in the Indian financial capital Mumbai at around 7:00 p.m.on Wednesday, July 13, 2011. The Indian Home Ministry has confirmed that it is a terror attack.
Home Minister Chidambaram said 17 people have been confirmed dead. However, the toll could go up to 18 as one body with a severed head had to be identified. 131 people have been injured in the terror attack, of whom 26 are seriously injured.
There was one blast inside a car at Mumbai's Dadar West and another blast in the electric meter box in Khau Gali in Zaveri Bazaar in South Mumbai and the third one at the Opera House in South Mumbai. Four people have died at Zaveri Bazaar claims a eyewitness.
"A tight security apparatus has been put in place. Senior officials are on the streets monitoring the security scenario. Police personnel have been deployed across the city," a senior police official said.
The Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday expressed deep regret on the bomb blasts that rocked Mumbai and said the government will follow all leads and find out who is responsible.
