Time For Reflection
On this our most sacred of national holiday's this July 4th we all should spend time in reflection of what made this country so great. Though some might not feel that the government is doing such a wonderful job. For that matter I tend to agree. But compared to say living in countries like Somalia or Haitie the United States, is like spending another day in paradise. It was four founding and guiding principals that laid the ground work for our countries greatness, Liberty, Justice, Education and Morality. Ingrained in our founding fathers consciousness was the firm belief in God. When George Washington stated "It is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His beliefs, and humbly to implore His protection and favor." was a testament to the resolve that the United States came into being under God. These principals of our founding have come under attack for over fifty years. No longer capable to uphold this country's greatness. All have eroded to such a point that our basic foundation once rock solid is now filled with gaping holes. As such this country is on the verge of falling into a cataclysm of sociological and economic decay unparallel in our history.
The corner stones of our Democracy, a Republic under God where Liberty, Justice, Education and Morality reigned supreme all have withered like a vine in the scorching sun. Whether is was a Supreme Court ruling like the one in 1962 when the highest court in the land struck down prayer in schools. There have been other Supreme Court rulings where the court caved in under the socialological changes occurring during temptuous times when they should have kept the promise and the vision of our founding core values and principals. By bending under pressure to the whims of the times has done untold damage to the core foundation of this countries ability to keep the greatness alive. Just look at the shocking reversal fortunes of our educational system. Back in the early 1960's the United States was ranked no.1 in Math and Science. Today we can't even climb back into the top 25 of nations around the globe.
To put the blame entirely on the Supreme Court is not the answer. The evolution of a society along with the technological advances has enabled America to slowly drift away from the fundamental concepts that were actually to reason to why the United States was able to achieve the everyday experiences that other people in other countries can only dream of experiencing. It is time for reflection alright, but also, it is time to shore up this foundation by reaffirming the fundamental concepts that gave birth to this nation. No longer can we as a society lapse into a state of utter complacency and apathy. We have inadvertently allowed our society and our own government to chip away the very foundation of our country. So precariously close to falling into that cataclysm we must diligently now through conscious effort restore those very concepts our founding fathers carried with them in giving birth to this nation.
Repealing some of the supreme court ruling would be a start. But to effectively restore this country back to the greatness we had following immediately after World War II takes a whole total reform of policies and laws that have only contributed to this countries crisis. This starts with National Economic Reform. There again we as a nation and a society have to as they say bite the bullet sort of speaking in the resolve that change is not easy but necessary to gain the results that everyone needs. That quote of FDR " The only thing we have to fear is fear itself" is true today. Whether it is fear that resists change or outright greed of individuals that continue to thwart the advances that our society so desperately needs are reoccurring themes that resonate the troubles in effecting change. But, change we must. It is necessary for long term growth and prosperity. To bring about a true sense of responsibility in each and every citizen that the United States can only regain it's rightful place among nations of the world is through understanding and utilizing the basic core values that were entrusted to our founding fathers.
