A man from the tiny island of Forewick Holm in the Shetland islands of Scotland, has renamed an island and declared dependence from the UK and Europe.

Stuart Hill, the owner of the Island claims that an arrangement struck in 1468 between King Christian I of Denmark/Norway and Scotland's James III, whereby Christian pawned the Shetland Islands to James in order to raise money for his daughter's dowry.

Hill contends that as the loan was never repaid, and no other legal agreement ever put in place, the Shetlands remain in a constitutional limbo, and should properly enjoy the status of crown dependencies such as the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands.

Sources and further reading:

The whole of the UK government's authority in Shetland rests on the assumption that Shetland is part of Scotland. My research over the past 6 years or so into Shetland's unique history leads me to the inescapable conclusion that it never happened - and that it could never have happened.

If I am right (and so far, nobody has proved me wrong), the implications are simply huge.

  • It means that the UK government never had the right to appropriate Shetland's seabed and license oil companies to extract the oil.
  • It means they never had the authority to use Shetland's fisheries as a bargaining chip to enter the EEC.
  • It means that Shetland has been subject to a massive fraud perpetrated at the highest level for hundreds of years.
  • It means that Shetland could not have been incorporated into the UK, let alone the EU.
  • It means that Shetland's true status is that of a Crown Dependency with the right to make its own laws, raise its own taxes (if necessary) and do all the things that any offshore island can do.

HIS plan to declare independence from the UK and create his own state on a tiny island off Shetland may sound like the plot of a quaint Ealing comedy.

But Stuart Hill's quest to turn the windswept crag of Forewick Holm into the autonomous Crown Dependency of Forvik has been dealt serious blows by two timeless adversaries: mother nature and the taxman.

Fascinating and yet it could not be removed from Europe only from the EU. Technically the case has to heard in the UN and the UN did declare in 1948 that all borders as they where in 1948 are valid and unchangeable. There for he be out of luck. Unless he is willing to go to war over it. Maybe Some one will sponsor him.

Old Will: Gênesis 3,9, God asks Adam: " Where you are? " God still is making this same asks today to each one of us Where we are with respect to MISSION that God gave in them? You use its talent for the practical one of the evil? " The only necessary thing so that the EVIL WINS, is the good men not to make nada" absolutely;. If we will be neutral in the subjects spirituals, we will finish discovering that we are against " Céu".
