TJ Lane: Suspect in Chardon High School Shooting (Photos)
TJ Lane, a Junior at Chardon High School, Named by Witnesses a Chardon High School Shooting Suspect: Is This Him? [Updated]
TJ Lane, a Junior at Chardon High School, has been indicated as the suspect in the Chardon High School shooting. Complicating the report is the emergence of photos that supposedly depict TJ Lane brandishing weapons: those photos don't necessarily depict the actual suspect.
Police have only been referring to one shooter. At the moment, the name of the shooter has not been announced by police, but CBS News has been reaching out to Chardon High School students, gathering information on a junior named TJ Lane.
According to CBS Local's Anthony Lima, at least one student who witnessed the shooting has identified the shooter as TJ Lane, listed as Thomas Lane in the Chardon High School yearbook.
A widely-circulated photo shows a teen alleged to be TJ Lane posing with handguns for a webcam. In one shot, he holds a hand-printed sign which reads, "02-26-12 [obscured] High School Massacre Omegle Initials R.F." The school's name is blurred out.
A note on TJ Lane's Facebook page reads in part:
"I'm on the lamb but I ain't no sheep. I am Death. And you have always been the sod. So repulsive and so odd. You never even deserved the presence of God, and yet, I am here. Around your cradle I plod. Came on foot, without shod. How improper, how rude. However, they shall not mind the mud on my feet if there is blood on your sheet. Now! Feel death, not just mocking you. Not just stalking you but inside of you. Wriggle and writhe. Feel smaller beneath my might. Seizure in the Pestilence that is my scythe. Die, all of you."
So, we have witnesses naming TJ Lane as the alleged shooter, but it is not yet confirmed that the photos below actually depict TJ Lane. Information shared via Twitter has the advantage of speed, but not always accuracy.
[Update: There is a resemblance between that photo and Thomas Lane's yearbook photo (linked above), but the photos of the gun-toting youth apparently do not actually depict TJ Lane.
Another unanswered question: several outlets reported the photos below as being posted to "TJ Lane's Twitter account", yet nobody has actually linked to such an account, if one even exists.
Some follow-up questions would be: who is the kid in the photos, then, and should someone be paying attention to them?]
