NP Rank:
Tommy Chong offers high praise to NDP hopeful
"Marijuana activist Dana Larsen is hoping his NDP leadership bid gets a bit of a buzz from a smokin’ endorsement by Canadian comedian Tommy Chong".
By Damian Inwood, Staff Reporter, Vancouver Province.
Dana Larson, two joints shy and a bong short is looking to Vancouver's favourite head Tommy Chong to garner the marijuana vote in the impending NDP leadership bid. Tommy Chong offers high praise to NDP hopeful, may be for naught as NDP party politicos state he is shy a week or two from renewing his NDP party membership card. Currently Dana can only be a declared hopeful.
NDP Party President Moe Sihota, certainly not a pro pot booster claims Dana didn't renew his party membership in November, thus is ineligible to run for the top leadership spot.
Dana and Tommy Chong best know for his hilarious stoner flicks Cheech and Chong are both Marc Emery boosters, during Emery's trials and tribulations with Johnny law and the Feds in the US of A which resulted in the extradition and incarcerating of Marc Emery over selling marijuana seeds by mail.
Tommy Chong, though all his good intentions in trying to see Dana Larson legalise marijuana once in Premiership of British Columbia can certainly empathise with Marc Emery. For Tommy himself spent some time in the U.S. slammer for selling drug paraphernalia. Certainly not a crime, or one would think.
Many feel Tommy as well as Marc Emery got a bad break when there are bigger fish to fry in the war on drugs game.
What is interesting is it seems while Dana may not be eligible to run for the NDP top spot as Premier, Tommy Chong on the other hand has a paid up membership, plus as a Vancouver resident an ideal front runner for the NDP leadership.
While it may seem Party President Moe Sihota may not agree, one thing is certain, if Tommy ran and Tommy Chong became our Premier, WOW, wouldn't that shakes thing up amongst the tightass liberal and NDP politicians, it would certainly make things so much more interesting.
The NDP and politics with Tommy Chong at the helm in British Columbia would be centre stage in the world of politics, including putting British Columbia on the map with loads of media coverage.
Just think of Tommy Chong as Premier, who knows maybe there is a Political Reality show in the making. All I know, if Tommy runs, this die hard anti drug conservative would vote for him in a heartbeat, just for the shock value. If there is a god...............
Let the games begin!

If Tommy Chong ran, the NDP might actually have a chance of taking power in the next election. I still do not trust the NDP any further than I could throw their most... erm, rotund? candidate; their reputation for corruption is not THAT far behind Gordon Campbells Liberals... though to be fair, that is probably because the Liberals have done a better job of paying out hush money... and I know I am not the only one who remembers the scandals that brought Gordon Campbell to power. But if Tommy Chong were to run for office, who can doubt that he would win? Why, because how many people in BC, even the ultra conservatives, didnt grow up watching Cheech and Chong? Its not that long ago that I was in Highschool, and people were still watching Cheech and Chong, or pulling the "Dave's not here, man" line out during attendance. The nostalgia factor alone would give him an edge. Maybe it would be wise if the NDP thought THAT through. "Vote Chong, man!" signs on every street, and they would probably win by a landslide.
