One Person is Dead and Another Seriously Injured After a 10,000 Gallon Tanker Exploded at the DuPont Plant in Tonawanda

The tanker was loaded with a chemical thought to be vinyl chloride, according to WKBW, and one person has been transported to the hospital with serious chemical burns.

It is not known at this time what caused the tanker to explode, but emergency crews and HazMat crews are on the scene.

The name of the deceased has not been released.

DuPont manufactures a number of products used in the building industry for countertop installations and wall cladding and a plyvinyl fluoride film used for covering applications.
