Tony Curtis Dies at 85
Tony Curtis passed away at the age of 85.
The man born in the Bronx, as Bernard Schwartz, and a tailor's son passed away at 9:25pm MDT in Las Vegas of an apparent cardiac arrest.
Tony Curtis became a 1950s heartthrob and respected actor with such films as "Sweet Smell of Success", "Some like it Hot" and "The Defiant Ones".
1958 he was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Actor, for his role in the movie "The Defiant One", where he portrayed a white racist escapee handcuffed to Sidney Portier, a black escapee.
In 1959 he donned women's clothing and sparred with Marilyn Monroe in the film "Some like it hot.
Later, in life, after battling alcoholism, he returned to film and television as a character actor.
He was the former husband of Janet Leigh, and father of actress Jamie Leigh Curtis.

Sad to hear Tony Curtis died. I agree he was the hearthrob of his time. Always enjoyed his movies. Seen the movie " Some Like it Hot " where he dressed up like a woman, with Jack Lemon. It was a good comical movie. Thanks for this story.

He was funny and played diverse roles. I think he grew with time too, not so much as an actor but as a hip person. His daughter was a good influence and vice versa IMO.

Tony Curtis was a great actor...no doubt about it....I will always remember his movies, his funny smile and his sense of humour....
