Tonya Craft Trial: Friend Testifies in Defense of Tonya Craft
Day 14 of the Tonya Craft: Friend Testifies Son Spent Many Nights at Craft's House
Tonya Craft is charged with 22 counts of child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and aggravated child molestation and on April 29, as her trial entered the 14th day, a friend of the Chickamauga Elementary teacher testified on her behalf.
Craft's friend Courtney Lewis said that her son had spent many nights at the teacher's house during the 2005-06 period, but stated that she never saw any of the girls at Craft's house that she is accused of molesting according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press.
Ms. Lewis said that she only saw the first alleged victim once during the whole year that pertains to the trial.
When the first girl, who now is 9, testified the first week of the trial, she said Ms. Craft had molested her when she spent the night during her kindergarten year and first-grade years, both of which were in 2005-06.
She was asked if she thought Ms. Craft was innocent and Ms. Lewis replied that is what she wants to believe.
Another woman, Shanica Lewis, who used to clean Ms. Craft's home, also testified that when she was there performing her job, she never saw anything that implied Ms. Craft was molesting anyone.
On Wednesday April 28, seven former co-workers of the teacher testified and all of them said that they had never observed anything inappropriate or out of the ordinary relating to the teacher and her students.
Tonya Craft was fired from Chickamauga Elementary School due to these molestation charges and her trial continues.

It should be noted that the judge in this case represented Ms. Craft's ex-husband during their divorce proceeding several years ago. Despite this he refused to recuse himself from the case. That should tell you everything you need to know about the fairness of these proceedings in small town Georgia...
