Cars.com's ranking of the Top 10 Worst Cars of the Decade is a super hilarious read, especially for the car lovers.  They get really clever with their critiques, such as when they dis the entire line of Daewoo cars by calling it "Daewoo Anything".  It might confuse some readers into thinking that there is a model called "Daewoo Anything", as opposed to "Anything made by Daewoo".

The Smartcar was voted as the worst of the worst.  They admit that "the ForTwo looks cute, but after you drive it you won't be smiling anymore."

Cars from Asia, Europe and the USA are all represented in this compilation, with wonderfully scathing comments about each car of course.

Their top 10 worst is:

10. Pontiac Aztek (2001-2005)
9. Daewoo Anything (1999-2002)
8. Isuzu VehiCROSS (1999-2002)
7. Jaguar X-Type (2002-2008)
6. Pontiac Sunfire (1995-2005)
5. Cadillac Catera (1997-2001)
4. Toyota Echo (2000-2005)
3. Jeep Compass (2007-present)
2. Chrysler Sebring (1995-present)
1. Smart ForTwo (2008-present)

1. Smart ForTwo(2008-present): We don't have a problem with small cars in general (we're big fans of the Mini Cooper), just with ones that don't deliver on the benefits of going small. The pint-sized ForTwo sacrifices a lot of passenger space for a relatively unimpressive 41 mpg on the highway, has an SUV-like propensity to roll over, and is equipped with an aggravating sequential manual transmission. Sure, the ForTwo looks cute, but after you drive it you won't be smiling anymore.

The Aztek would have been my choice for plum ugly. They almost hurt your eyes.

Nice list...It's important for parents to know what they're buying, especially if they're looking out for the safety of their children, or unborn children.

I do know someone with an Aztek, & they like it :(

me, UGH... & the smartfortwo is, as stated, a disappointment when my 4 seater new bug gets 45mpg & is alot more fun to drive (TDI)

Spydermonkey, we own the Aztek in the picture above and we LOVE it!!!  So I do not believe it is the worst.  But this is the opinions of the few.

Yes, I know it has some good points, but it looks like a funky plastic box....

I have ridden in one, the handling didn't impress me at all, kinda like a SUV without the ground clearance..

I currently own a smart car and it has been one of my favorite vehicles.

I drive a smart fortwo and I love it, there is plenty of space for what I need and I don't know what they're talking about "has an SUV-like propensity to roll over" cause I drive fast and go around corners fast and have yet to roll over. but anyway, I've been driving mine for the past 8 months and i'm still smiling. I wouldn't drive anything else

The Aztec, not the micro car.

How well does the smartfortwo handle 80mph traffic on the interstate?

I do not know about the Aztek you rode in, but the handling of the Aztec is powerful. At least mine is. It is fun to drive. Like a bumble bee, which is what it looks like, bumble bees according to the laws of physics should not fly. Helicopters are the same. But for some reason, they fly. The Aztek flies and it flies well. We love it. If they still made them, when our 2001 Aztek decides to retire, we would love to grab another one. Pontiac feels that the cost was not worth it, so we want to keep this one, maintain it the best way we can, as long as it drives.

Will it take an exit ramp at 50-60mph ?

The new bugs can :)

I defend the smart fortwo.  It loves to do 80mph on the freeway.  Also a little searching on the net will find you an episode of  TOPGear , a british car show.  Where they try to roll the smart over and its practically impossible. They even bolt a second smart car on top of another and they still have difficulty gettin it to tip over.  And yes the aztek is the ugliest thing ever.

Oh you got that right with the Catera.  I first saw this and thought to meself "no way is this a Cadillac".  I would like to add the Scion xB and Pontiac anything.  Good riddence to Pontiac.

I have driven a Smart Cabrio for the past 16 months, and I can appreciate that it is not the smoothest car to drive.  It takes a while to get used to the manual automatic transmission.  However, the comments about the small size are simply not accurate.  This car has far more passenger space that most 2-passenger autos.  Everyone that gets in the car is amazed at its roominess.  The only downside that I have experienced is that it only accomodates 2 passengers, but that's true of all 2-passenger autos.  I feel certain that no other car elicits more favorable responses from the public than this car -- I have had an endless stream of smiles, waves, and thumbs up (as well as my photo taken on cell phones) from passersby since I started driving this car.  Most Smart owners love them, so don't knock it if you have not experienced it!  Sure, I'd like 60 or 70 mpg, but 41mpg keeps me smiling at the pump!

Smart cars are hideously unreliable and insurance is high any car can ride and feel well I am afraid. parts cost a lot and when it comes down to the going fast round corners isn't useful you can't really have cars compared to other cars which aren't sold in different regions because nobody can draw comparisons. I for one will never see a Pontiac aztek or ride in one because I am european and you will probably never see with your own eyes or ride in a Peugeot 206
