Goodness, Funny that the news do not elaborate like some media who say it is a case of a hit and run, whereby the accused after hitting the cyclist proceeded at Batman speed away from the death scene, only what some say had a change of heart and called a time later from their hotel.  Wonder how one will get out of this one, certainly cannot claim ignorance of the law, since the accused was the former Attorney General of Ontario a scant few months ago.  Ah the Wheels of Justice, Ontario citizens may soon find out will turn slow, if the accused is tries by his peers and friends in the Justice system.

As for the cyclist, it is said the cyclist was hanging onto the fast moving luxury vehicle of the attorney generals whereby heated words were exchanged between the driver and the cyclist, proving never bring a 15 pound bicycle to a  4000 pound Vehicle fight!

TORONTO - A former Ontario cabinet minister is reportedly being questioned in connection with a fatal accident Monday night in downtown Toronto.

Media outlets say Michael Bryant, now the head of Invest Toronto, was allegedly in a car involved in the accident. Police say they expect to lay charges but add they will not confirm the identity of the person in custody until they do so.

CBC reports that he is still in custody but no charges have been laid.  They also talk about some kind of altercation and are looking at surveillance videos.

Perhaps it was now realizing He (attorney General) was on a surveillance camera that gave him a change of heart once he got to the hotel. Of course media say as well he is still in custody until witnesses come forward,

Former Ontario attorney general Michael Bryant is reportedly being interviewed in connection with the death of a cyclist in downtown Toronto.

"There was some sort of altercation between the two people involved in this investigation, which has ended in, unfortunately, the death of a cyclist," said Sgt. Tim Burrows.

Police will not confirm that Bryant was the driver of the car, nor will they say if charges are pending.

The altercation began near the corner of Bloor Street West and Bay Street at about 9:45 p.m.

" Michael Bryant, now the head of Invest Toronto" - Isn't that a recurring theme among politicians...

Bryant has been charged with dangerous driving causing death, and criminal negligence causing death.

The victim is 33 year old bicycle courier Darcy Allan Sheppard.  I would imagine the intersection of Bay/Bloor has cameras.  Big brother at its best?

Raajiv Rajadurai, 23, said he was in an eastbound vehicle on Bloor Street when he saw a cyclist slam his backpack onto the hood of a convertible and then grab the driver's side mirror as the vehicle sped away.

The driver was going so fast that at one point the biker was holding on to his car and there were sparks coming from the bottom of his shoes,” he said.

It seemed like the driver was trying to shake him off because he turned really suddenly, put on the brakes, jetted it one last time and then all your hear is three thumps and then the guy falls on the floor.

So Byrant has been charged by the Toronto Police with criminal negligence.
