Rabbi Kook was the first chief rabbi of Israel and pre-state era. He was a compassionate man and wonderful poet. Rabbi Marmelstein of Canada and Israel takes us through Kook's residence in Jerusalem. Included is Rav Kook's poetry put to music and created by Rav. Marmelstein. Please enjoy. The history of the early years is shared in this program.

In the fall of 1913, the Rav led a delegation of distinguished rabbis on a visit to the new settlements of the Shomron and the Galilee. The purpose of the trip was to strengthen the religious foundations of the New Yishuv, to promote good relations between the different segments of the nation, to make sure that the young generation receives a proper Jewish education and to guide the settlers in the observance of the Land related precepts….In the course of close to a month -19 Chesvan to 16 Kislev, the delegation visited over twenty settlements.

So they claim that the state of Israel has a religious basis ?

Not sure who "they" is.

As for the "claim", it goes back about 3000 years, longer if you begin with when God promised the land to Abram's heirs.

By your use of the word claim, one assumes you mean it as it is from the the dictionary: "to take as the rightful owner", correct?
