Tamil Tigers 'reorganise' struggle for separate state
The few surviving leaders of Sri Lanka's defeated Tamil Tigers announced Tuesday they were reorganising the rebel movement and forming a “transnational government.” The rebel group's international relations chief, Selvarasa Pathmanathan, said in a recorded message that the organisation would continue to pursue its aim of a separate Tamil state despite the rout of its army and death of its leadership.
LTTE appoints Pathmanathan as head of international relations
[TamilNet, Friday, 30 January 2009, 23:51 GMT]
The leadership of the Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam (LTTE) has recently named Selvarasa Pathmanathan, a high profile representative of the movement, as the Head of a newly established Department of International Relations, sources close to the LTTE said on Saturday.
Some changes within ltte, Note: "Leadership" and not Our Leader Prabakaran and has established a "Department of International Relations" The real intencen of this move is not so clear.
Mr. Pathmanathan will be representing the movement in any future peace initiatives and will be the primary point of contact for engaging with the international community, according to a letter sent to the various international actors by the LTTE's Department of International Relations.
A new face and a new move too note! "any future peace initiatives" Bluffing or are they (ltte) showing their willingnes to peace talks??
Pathmanathan will be working abroad with required mandate from the LTTE leadership, according to the letter.
LTTE's Poltiical Head B. Nadesan, when contacted by TamilNet, confirmed that Mr. Pathmanathan has already begun corresponding with international actors.
Pathmanathan (dont no who he is but I think Williambaptist could give us the clearence regarding this matter) has got the mandate to act on behalf of ltte, but the Q is with or without to get the permission from Prabhakaran???
And he will be working "Abroad" ?? Can we expected big changes from ltte? big changes also regarding "Civilians Plight" ?

KP, the LTTE's new chief negotiator
(By: Shanika Sriyananda)
The military has unveiled a secret plan of the LTTE to shield the identity of the LTTE's international arms smuggler, popularly known as KP (Kumaran Pathmanadan).
The disguised KP has been designated as the LTTE's chief negotiator and the international spokesman under the name Selvarajan Pathmanadan, recently.
The LTTE is apparently trying to camouflage the identity of KP in an effort to conceal his previous arms rackets. " He has been instructed to procure arms and ammunition for the LTTE using his new designation as international spokesman as a cover", the informed sources said.
According to sources, the LTTE leader has urged Selvarajan Pathmanadan to use his new credentials to visit all countries and procure arms and ammunitions to the LTTE which is facing its final battle.
Earlier, the LTTE's international spokesman was Anton Balasingham.
KP alias Kumaran alias Selvarajan Pathmanadan is a most wanted person by the Interpol and several intelligence agencies including the FBI for his involvement as the LTTE's key arms smuggler.
According to sources, KP who has been blacklisted as a key procurement agent of the LTTE operates from Thailand. "He has been all over South East Asia procuring arms and ammunition for the LTTE. These procurements range from small arms and ammunition to Surface-to-Air Missiles (SAMS), Chinese built 130mm, 152mm artillery pieces, and several cargo ships and Czech built Zlin 143 aircraft", they said.
Informed sources said that several countries have refused to accept KP as the LTTE's chief negotiator and international spokesman despite the LTTE's repeated requests.
Meanwhile, the Norwegians have assured of the custody of Selvarajan if he is caught by the international intelligence agencies, sources claimed.
According to sources the LTTE has a strong international procurement link to smuggle arms and ammunition into the country and operates a shipping network in international waters. "These ships are used as `floating warehouses' to carry large stocks of arms and ammunition.
The LTTE shipping network has operated in Indonesian, Malaysian and Chinese waters and largely in the Bay of Bengal carrying arms and ammunition. In 2006 and 2007, the Sri Lankan Navy managed to destroy several LTTE floating warehouses operated in the Bay of Bengal", they said.

Pathmanathan welcomes US shift in approach [TamilNet, Saturday, 14 March 2009, 14:51 GMT]
"We have been hoping for such a fresh approach to the longstanding but little understood problem of the Eezham Tamils in the island of Sri Lanka," said Selvaraja Pathmanathan, the newly appointed LTTE plenipotentiary for international relations, when contacted by TamilNet for his response on US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton’s statement Friday. “An immediate ceasefire can stop the killing of civilians and will pave way for other measures to take effect in a more acceptable manner to the affected people” he further said, adding, “ grief on one side and greed on the other side have to be assessed impartially in working out a solution meeting the aspirations of all of Sri Lanka’s communities.
S. Pathmanathan, Head of LTTE's International Diplomatic Relations
‘Meeting the aspirations of all communities’ is a unitary-centric approach the Sri Lankan state has been historically using in the negation of Tamil national aspirations, Pathmanathan pointed out.,

Can this be just a show? To show to whoever is funding LTTE that they are not "over" yet?

Those who funded and aided the Tigers growth, i.e. the Tamil people, never waver from their quest. So, it only an interlude, thereafter there will be enhanced struggle, in more and more innovative ways.

Who is this guy? What is his experience in international diplomatic relations? Looks like another strategic blunder by LTTE. It apears that nepotism like his had helped SL government to get an upper hand?

"Transnational Government"
A novel and innovative idea, indeed. Also, it is an experimental concept.
Fair enough.
Now the killer outfit gone, the few culprits abroad should innovate, conceptualize and experiment new ideas if they are to continue extortion of the Diaspora.
Besides, by establishing a psuedo government, even ghosts could play an active role....

The idea of a separate Tamil state in Sri Lanka is dead/
It will never happen and Tamils need to face reality and stop wasting money and lives on a lost cause.
