My wife and I were travelling through the Yucatan region of Mexico when we came across this shack with jaguar masks hanging on the side.
The man who made these masks and his family opened his doors to us, invited us in and showed us the process by which he comes to these wonderful colors.
He carves each one by hand and then his wife paints them with natural colors that he obtains from reducing syrups from natural sources such as fruits and vegetables. Naturally we bought one for our home.
